Brilliant comment Guitarman.

Very simple rule of thumb for all number plates whether on vehicle or bike, is: 'If it looks right then it is right' Anything other than 'right' could earn you either a prosecution or a defect notice.
Also always worth bearing in mind; you do not own your registered number. Whether 'ordinary' or 'personalised' and no matter what you paid for it, it can always be recalled by the DVLA.

Attitude & a plausible story will probably be the key to whether you are punished or not, I think. How does this sound.....?

sounds typical UK to me.

In Aus - you'll get issued a ticket - no questions - stories - sob stories - blow jobs will help.
same with all other offences.

Can't do the time - don't do the crime.

Hello all.
I have a question on this matter.
I'm not interested in fancy graphics or a small plate, but I would like a metal one. Assuming the letters and margins are spaced correctly and the backing is reflective etc, can I legally have a metal plate on an 05 UK bike?

If so, does anyone know where I could get one?

Thanks,
Matt

Ordered all on line with choices of style, trim, colour etc and mine came in the post within 3 days.
I went for 7.5" x 7.5" i think as my remus can was burning the larger one one

The link above should help

'it is now legal to be carried only on cars built prior to 1st January 1973'

I assume this will be the same for bikes

My friend wanted the Black and silver plate and ordered it online from the site in my other reply. With his order he also bought a legal one and put that on first then the other over the top so if there was any issues then he would just remove it. It was a plastic one not metal.
If you type Silver Number plates into Google then you will get a few sites.
