I know most of you are seasoned travellers and mostly do independent tours, but does anyone know a decent tour company in Spain or Portugal that hires out bikes and does a guided tour?
I don't really want to plan the trip myself - rather have someone to do that for me as it is our first trip.

I have a bike but my other half doesn't and I would like him to experience motorcycle touring abroad in September, so thought it might be best to fly out and hire bikes (and possibly encourage him to get his own bike again).

It's either that or a package holiday in Majorca

Hi Moody,

Glad you are planning a trip. We hired a BMWfrom Seville a decade ago and toured independently.Try here here. I really recommend travelling independently as it gets you close to the countryside and you cna pick your own pace.
Another option is to ask if anyone in the area is willing to point you in the right direction or show you round. We had one day with a local ex pat. It was a great day.

Whatever you do enjoy.

Path.

Just done the pyrenees 2 weeks again. I've got some amazing routes from Bilboa to barca via n -260 if you want them.

Try Anton at Rent-a-Tiger. They have bases in Barcelona and Malaga and run tours as well as straightforward bike hire. Meanwhile you can read all you need to know about biking in Spain on my blog - see below.

Better still ask Anton to have the bikes ready for trails and come to my HISS event in the catalonian Pyrenees - September 11th - 16th :)

PS Anton speaks excellent English!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Now comes the hard part of trying to convince him to go, rather than taking a package holiday.
The Spanish Biker - not much chance of getting him to go off road I am afraid, and the Tiger XC is a bit too tall for me.

I think Anton has bough some BMW 650s and he also has some Tigers with lowered suspension - note to self, ask Anton for a deal on commission! :)

I hired a bike from Hispania Tours, in malaga a few weeks ago, and was very impressed with the whole set up. The bike had everything you needed for touring. I was up around Ronda and Granada working out my own tour as I went and had a fantastic time. I believe they do escorted and unescorted tour packages as well.I am not that easy to please, but they managed it! Hope this helps.:thumb2

Speak to the delightful Hanna at...

Based nr Malaga. They'll pick you up from the airport. They do bike hire and organized trips both around Spain and into Morocco etc.
Hanna is VERY experienced at this kind of thing.
