ROAD TYRES FOR LC GS

We ride about 80% gravel and mud in South Africa, specifically Mpumalanga where I live, right next to the Kruger National Park.

Tried and tested- Karoo 3 or TKC80. Both IMHO good tyres, and best of all, both equally good road tyres as well.

I wish we could get Mitas07's for the LC- they are simply some of the best tyres I have ever had.

I run on dunlop roadsmart 2. Great grip. Very confidence inspiring knowing you have sport touring rubber. Ride 99% on the road so why have anything else but proper road tyres. Handles fantastic, once fitted you wont go back. Mate of mine has the fake trail tyres fitted to his lc and is about to swap his tyres to the pr4. Makes sense.

Agree

Ive decided that I will Tryout the PR4's Trail think decent reports from most quarters,,, cheers for input :thumb2

changed to pr4' 3000 miles ago great choice for road use ,handles great , but would'nt like to go off road with them .

Just take a photo, and upload it.:thumb

Buy a copy to download via the Ride app.

You can probably afford it.

Or ask their journalist Simon Weir, who regularly appears on these pages looking for (free) help on hotels / routes, to lob you a copy in the post for naught, all bikermate like.

Can't comment on them, but I've read that the new Michelin Pilot Road 4 are pretty good. They have different versions, for the GS it would be the Trail version.

Road version fitted £280:eek:,this is from my regular fitter....

My new bike has arrived yesterday with Anakee 3's which I would like to swop for PR4's in just 600 miles at first service, (next week) so my virtual new Anakee 3's could be up for grabs!

Crikey. If you are that worried about road tyres you are worried about performance which tells me you should have bought a sports bike. Save yer money and throw it at fuel and travel costs and just ride the fekkin thing. Quit worrying about stuff that just doesn't matter!

I agree.
Mine came with the Tourance Nexts. My analytical skills are not enough to tell whether it's tyres only or a combination of tyres and suspension action, but they seem to stick like hell to the tarmac, and when they have let go while I was cornering on painted lines, they've let go so progressively that I've been able to tell exactly what the bike's doing and is about to do - no fear factor at all!
First bike I've ever ridden that I was able to do that. :D I'm impressed.

Um... I don't. ;) You're more likely to find me on Long Tom or Dutoitskloof Passes.
I'm looking forward to seeing what my riding buddy's Triumph Tiger Explorer is REALLY capable of, while I'm chasing him on my LC.

Probably only a matter of time until they come out in the right sizes. :thumb
