Rose tinted glasses...

Now that is exactly how I enjoy new bikes on the market, turn up on a Gs, for sure you will get a test ride, and for sure I am still liking my GS more at the moment, but as age is creeping up a 790 is looking nice also, 30kgs less is easier to throw up on the stand and push around, and speed is really a non issue anymore far to many radars and kontrols. ;)

Totally agree with that.

ive both the 790R and 1200 rallye. Both great bikes. Personally i think the 790 has the fun factor and i have done 400+ miles on it in a day and no issues (only with wind noise as screen is crap). Great bike for sporty riding and hitting some more extreme lanes forestry etc.
1200 is more sit and relax and eat miles with the odd dusty lane, but still heavy but a great tourer. (or 2 up)

When I look at it logically the GS is the right bike for me. I hate chains, I regularly use the cruise control to rest my arm, no need to close the throttle etc with the quick shifter, no need to struggle on hills with the hand brake, doesn’t dive when I brake, the wife likes the pillion ride, cheap to service the list goes on, why am I even thinking of changing

You can have all of that minus 20kgs, just get an R1200

Explain your logic please, I’m intrigued. Does BMW make another 1200 with telelever suspension 30kg lighter then my GS?

I am a loyal BMW Rider, I have been lucky to have owned several GS/GSA's over the years, I currently am waiting for my new GS1250 to come in. Everytime I think of changing my bike I consider another brand? Before I ordered my new GS I considered some other makes, namely, Africa Twin Adventure Sport, Yamaha Super Tenere, and Ducati Multistrada. There is another factor that has to be considered, Part exchange value!! The difference in value of my part ex for the various models, varied over £ 5000.00, worst being £8K best being £13K, so that also has to be a major factor, unless you sell privately and negotiate a straight deal!!
Sometimes it's just not that easy to change brand?
