You don't get specific 'Gold' training as such.

Ideally, you will be trained to such a level as your Tutor feels that you will acquit yourself well on the test.

I don't put candidates forward unless I feel they can attain a Gold - UNLESS they have specifically told me they want to aim at a lower grade pass as a stepping stone on the way to Gold.

So, you pitch up on the day and ride your best. With a following wind, and assuming your ride is all but flawless, you'll be awarded a Gold.

The majority of folk seem to get Silver at their 1st attempt. I get the feeling from having spoken to a number of examiners that only around 25% of candidates are awarded Gold, the bulk get Silver, and a a small number get Bronze.

The 'Silver' window is quite large, and it's easy to drop from Gold to Silver because of some silly error on the day.

Ogmios from this Parish can point you in the right direction... Give him a shout.

Come and have a holiday in South Wales, bring your bike or use ours. Courses starting again March. I'm told we'll have a R1200GS, a F800ST and a R1200R for the purpose. We'll also have the new 650GS if you prefer. Contact BMW Rider Training and enjoy the Welsh mountains!!!!!!!!!!
