Route advice

I have now done Sain , Southern France and are now looking at a trip to the French alps and the area around there (Germany , Austrai Itay etc), i have always planned routes myself but this area i have no knowlage of.
Can anyone suggest route to that area and other routes in the area , so i can try to plan a trip for 10 days.Any help would be appriciated as i will study all the maps of the area but could do with a few pointers ie , dont do that road etc or you must do this ...................

Just done a route similar to Riders Rest. My destination was Menton but it was so nice in the Alps we spent an exta day at Barcelonette instead and rode the other high passes (Col Du Bonnette, the highest road in Europe at 9300 feet)
We deviated a bit over the Petite St Bernard pass into Aosta (Italy) and the St Bernard pass to Switserland but neither area is better than the French side.
So much to see and passes to ride.
Take a good Michelin map (Min 1/200000) and plan, check out the small connecting routes at the ends of the main cols, do not just ask the sat nav to take you from A to B the quickest way or you will miss the very best bits.
Im a bit of an Anorack when it comes to route planning and spend a lot of time on Google earth street view looking at the passes.
