Looking at some route around the Alps for a trip in the summer. On one day we are transitioning from the Hochalmspitze and heading over to near Nauders to the next hotel.

I'm looking at a nice twisty route at the moment and I've stumbled across a trail which i was wondering if anyone has any experience of ?? (Yes I know I should just fecking go and explore :blast:blast)

Already got the Grosglockner pass in, but then heading west from there I found a road heading south west from Mayrhofen (169) to the Schleggeisspeicher. This turns into something called the Pfitscherjoch Trail and heads over the border into Italy.

I've played on Google maps and had a squiz of some of the photos but only seem to see walkers which makes me think this isn't a trail for motorbikes

Doh... i kind of realised that after finding some youtube clips.... ah well...

He's right you know, I could easily be persuaded to guide you up there. There is a small toll (5 Euros last year) but well worth it.

Well that would be nice :beerjug::beerjug::beerjug:

I'd already planned out a circuit, heading down past Villach then a loop clockwise round the Triglav National Park, and back up through the west side on the 206... But all local knowledge greatly recevied...:D

One of our most popular routes, lots to see, lots of places to stop and if it's hot, swimming in the Lago di Predl along the way.

Now, if you just practice saying "it's absolutely essential he comes with me" in as convincing manner as possible then SWMBO might give me a day pass!

There's a group of 8 of us arriving on the sunday and staying for 2 nights :thumb2:thumb2

As you're staying @ Hochalmspitze in Malta, you must go up the Mangart in Slovenia just ask John, it's one of the best views ever, REALLY see...

Thanks for that link. Just been browsing Google Earth at this area and feel a bit miffed that it was within easy reach of our Dolomites tour 2yrs ago and I didn't know of Mangart.

Well I do now and so it's been scribbled in the planning book for future must go travels. :beerjug:

forget anything going across the italian border as a trail, there are lots but caught doing so will result in big shit from the italians. they are very keen on closures of cross border routes and are know to helicopter bikes off the trails if caught in " no go" areas.
