I am planning a trip to Moroco next Jun/Jul.

Approximately 10 days in total?

Ferry to Santander and then down to the ferry across to Ceuta?

After that I have no idea other than possibly to Marrakech and back? All very early stages and I have ordered maps and books to assist in the planning.

I suppose what I'm asking is, how feesable is it to gat to Marrakech and back in 10 days? Should I concentrate on more northern areas. We want to do some off road stuff and camping. How mush would you budget per day?

We are all experienced riders but are there roads to completely avoid?

Any advice welcome

Cheers

Paul.

Manchester to Plymouth/Portsmouth= half a day
Ferry=1 day
Santandar to Marrakech=2 and half days (including ferry and customs).
Realistically I would allow 4 days each way giving you 2 days in Morroco which to my mind is a waste of 8 days travelling and approx £1000.
It was our first trip last year (3 solo riders on GS1200x2 and KTM 950) and spent 3 weeks going:-
Leicester, Plymouth/Santandar, Jaca, Andora, Barcelona, Algeciras/Ceuta, Fes, Midelt, Merzouga, Ouzazat, Marrakech, Ceuta/Algeciras, Bilbao/Portsmouth, Leicester and we were knackered.
I want to go back in September with her indoors and would love to go on the GS again but the time and cost will be too much so I'm looking at Fly/ride which will work out cheaper and less time off work/more time in Morocco.

What Tonibe said, except I'd add another half day to the Santander to Marrakech leg. Lots of fast tarmac bashing seeing the world in a blur. Much potential for accidents.

Fly into M'kech and hire from loc2roues which will cost around £600-650 with flights.

I've just arrived in Spain on my way back after two weeks in Morocco and I have point out that it's fekking hot in July so early June might be better.

Which is what I am doing this September:thumb2.
The new 650GS is £530 for a weeks hire including road insurance and the flights about £120 return. It will cost you much more than that to get your own bike there.

Thanks for the advice and I take on board what your saying, I am a little disappointed as I love the feeling of just getting on your own bike at home and heading off into the unknown.

I've done a little research on what you have said and must be looking at the wrong sites as I can only find guided tours that cost £1500 and flights that are costing in excess of £500 rtn.

What am I doing wrong as I cannot afford this sort of money!

Any links to web sites much appreciated.

Try the low cost airlines for flights and http://www.loc2roues.com/motos.php for bike hire. 7000 Dirhams (approx £530) for a weeks hire of an F650GS twin including road insurance (normally about £68 for your own bike).
I use Direct Travel for my travel insurance. I rang them this week for a quote and to make sure they will cover me and pillion for medical expenses on the hired F650GS (800cc)-they quoted £55 for a years cover for the whole family.
