I'm taking the following route in Morocco in the next few months and was wondering if anyone can either recommend places to stop and soak up the view or cafes that make great tea or even natural wonders that should not be missed.

Tarifa - Rabat
Rabat - El Jadida
El Jadida - Essaouira
Essaouira - Marrakech
Marrakech - Beni Mellal
Beni Mellal - Fez
Fez - Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen - Tarifa

Never done the West Coast, other than a brief visit to Agadir, so can't comment on that part.

If the road from Essaouira to MK is anything like the road from Agadir to MK then be very careful of trucks & cars overtaking blindly :eek

Between MK & Beni Mellal I'd recommend a trip to the Cascades d'Ozoud. Apart from it being the only waterfall I've seen it Morocco it's also a nice spot for a bit of lunch and / or relax in the shade with a fresh orange juice :D

Follow the road past the Cascades and after lots of stunning views & heaps of great bends you'll get onto the N8, MK to Beni Mellal, road.

The N8 is about as boring as it gets in Morocco :( To spice things up a bit take a wee detour onto the R304 to Afrourer. From Afrourer the road climbs up into the hills via a brilliant succession of bends & eventually comes to the Bin El Ouida reservoir. And then if you turn left just before the dam you can take the R306 back to the N8.

Once you're past Beni Mellal you'll be heading back into the mountains & things should improve ;)
