Afternoon,

We're heading off on Friday, Ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam, down through Germany, over the Stelvio Pass then on to Garda to meet up with the Wife's family for a week.
I plan on disappearing for a few trips through the mountains etc, but where's worth going within striking distance of Garda ? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers..

Peter.

the roads to the west betweenrive Lake Garda & Lake Iseo are good - take the road up the side of the gorge between Riva & Limone.

To the North you have the Brenta Dolomites - head north toward Molveno from Riva then loop across to Madonna di Campilgio and back down to Riva.

There's a lovely scenic route around Garda ~110 km.
Do not forget to visit Sirmione ;)

Did a good route to the Dolomites from Lake Gada it took 12hrs though although we did stop and watch the Moto GP:thumb

Vist Venice and Verona as well worth a visit if you want a none bike day:eek:

Best - just go anywhere 'cause the road signs in Italy are still set for the 'merican invasion - been there - done that

I was at lake Garda, just over a week ago.

There are some great mountain roads, which over look lake Garda,
so you don't have to go far.On the north/east side ( passo santa barbara)
(passo san valentino) ( Passo di telegrafo)

On the north/west side there are other mountain roads, over looking lake Garda, with stunning views.

There are plenty of other great roads,
in that area. Monte Bondone which over looks Trento, springs to mind.

Have a good trip.

The Passo Tremalzo is amazing, but not easy to handle, and officialy it's forbidden for motorbikes. If you stay overnight for at least three nights in Limone, the hotel/camping/whatever should be able to get you a paper to ride the track.

Also try the Tré Valli road between Passo de Croci Domini and Passo di Maniva, and continue over the Passo di Dosso Alto towards the Idro lake. From Idro take the SP58 over Passo di Capovalle, beautiful road to ride fast, and coming to Lago di Garda, you have an amazing.

For an impression, check out the picz I've made a month ago:
