Hello all it appears riding in to a puddle has killed my engine 05 GS, so I may be looking for a replacement my query for you knowledgable people is the RT engine identical to the GS version, secondly the gearbox the same question? just to open my options. I am aware of the FD ratio difference. anyone have a engine lying about. Pic below is a bit misleading I did not ride in that deep, but a mistake nonetheless. pretty hard walking past it in the garage at the moment we have done 150k, many countries, much mischief over 15 years together. perhaps you can help it to kick up some more dust. Ta very much.

bought lots from Sherlock but a engine from there is too expensive for me unfortunately, if I can confirm all the R series K25's are the same from the RS,RT as the GS it will give me more chance I can find one that will fit in to my budget. Thanks anyway,

On no!
Perhaps a PM to Mikeyboy and/or Steptoe, they might have something in the back of their workshops.

I hope you get it sorted

What about rebuilding it, I know that engines do not like to be run while under water but could it be cheaper than a new / replacement engine?

gspod if I new which engines would suit it would widen my options but no luck here, perhaps a wanted post may work better. waggy no idea whats wrong with it turns smooth by hand or with starter without plugs and compression plugs in sounds like a 30mm drill bit turning backwards, so I have no idea of the costs to repair, the engine is probably a little tired now anyway. so another engine and strip the original at leisure and explore the possibilities then was the thinking, but the bike has worked hard as an all weather commuter and trail explorer and shows it, so does not justify a load of BMW bills. thanks both.

I wouldn’t be considering a engine swap without a bit of investigation. JJH
