Can anyone tell me please,... will system panniers from an RT or an R1100S fit on my 1150GS ? I've fitted a stubby to make space for near-side full size box. I have mounting rails already, are these all the same ? Will i have remove pillion footrests ? Any info would be great. :beerjug:

I have an R1100S with panniers here and, in Italy, a R1150R with a different set of panniers.

99.9% sure (I never actually tried, but a couple friends did) you can put the "big" left S/RT pannier on a standard GS/R, provided you removed the exhaust.

On the R the pillion footrest is one of the three points where you attach the pannier.

I've done exactly this - the main reason for getting a stubby.

You will need to unscrew the plastic bit on the rear of the footrest that locates into the pannier otherwise the larger pannier will sit too high to grip the pannier rail properly.

You then need to make up a little bracket to bolt to the exhaust hanger on which you can reposition the plastic bit you removed earlier. I'll get round to posting a piccie for you later.

Actually makes the LH pannier slightly larger than the RH one once completed!

This is starting to sound like more trouble than its worth. I found a set of R1100S panniers on ebay and thought they might do........ anyway thanks to all for info... my tail bag will do for now.

No trouble to do really. Here's my solution using a carbon fibre offcut:-
