Any help would be helpful

I turn on the ignition and a orange exclamation warning light in a triangle come on and stays on then the words SET comes on and then off then brake failure flashes on and off.

I hit the starter which works but it cuts out, it wants to start but just cuts out.

Any ideas ?

Thanks martin

Possibilities

The initial section is the normal startup of an RT. they are the system doing all the initial checks. Brake failure stays on till you pull away -something to do with the ABS sensors I think.

The only issue is that the bike is cutting out the rest is perfectly normal.

Is the bike showing a green N making sure the bike is in neutral. Might be worth putting in gear then back to neutral to make sure it's not showing a false neutral.

Not su if you have the book but assuming you don't

1. Emergency off switch not engaged
2. Side stand is up
3. Pull in clutch lever to make sure gear not engaged
4. Don't pull the clutch in before switching on the ignition
5. Do you have fuel - sounds silly but worth checking as fuel gauge my be faulty
6. Is the enough charge in the battery

Apologies if you have the book and checked these already.

If none of these then sounds electrical somewhere

And if you don't have a manual, google explains it on page 65 of the PDF.

Is the cruise control turned on?

RT Wont Start Sunday Update

Thanks for advice all.

Sunday morning update.

Put in a gallon of petrol this morning, amber warning triangle with exclamation mark gone off, brake failure light still flashing as the bike is still stood, hit start, and engine is trying to start and sounds as if it is.......but doesn't.

stationary..

Moto is 2005 - ignition in , warning lights cycle thro, left with neutral light and red flashing brake failure flashing. Hit start and it want turns over ok and wants to start but doesnt.

Gone thro gears and kill switch they seem ok nothing seems lose either.

Fuel pump

When you turn on the ignition can you hear the fuel pump turnng over. If not thn that could be the problem !

You don't say what year the bike is.

Could be the Fuel Pump Controller.

John

I'd agree.

It'll most likely be the Fuel pump controller it's not an unknown failure.
Fairly easy to change if you have the correct sized torx drivers The newer ones are black powdercoated.
It's located on the fuel pump access panel under the LH side tupperware.
Let us know if it is the problem.

Starter ...

Hi, Thanks to all replies with help they were much appreciated.

Well there is something I forgot to mention.

I fitted some risers to the handlebars and in doing so unscrewed bars to lift off and put the riser blocks underneath. I was careful and put it all back together and parked the bike up.

I went to start it the other day and as previous posts it wouldn't start.

Tonight - I was going to set about removing the fairing and though I would give it one last try, it didnt start again but thought I would try one more time but open the throttle up -it started. I think that I may have caught a cable when removing bars - one to watch out for
