I'm looking for something to replace my old and tired rear shock that is well worn out and spring is shot too. I'm 17 stone and my daughter is about the same so something with a good range of preload would be good. My bike is a 06 non ESA servo abs with about 55,000 miles on it. I was reciently offered €3750 against a new one. Ha ha not on your life. But it's very disappointing to have a 'premium' brand only to find any other bike would be worth more. JJH

Wow thanks for that response obviously very good quality and price. But out of my league. If I bought that I would next of all have to replace the front one and where would it end? If I was considering that kind of money I'd rather put it towards a new bike. Funny how you can persuade yourself that it would work out cheaper. JJH

I had Ohlins front and back on my r1150 GS and it was a joy really I used to top up 600km a day but the bicke its self was just to heavy but once you have a bicke with Ohlins its hard to find any uther compormis :ronno

Take it out and have it rebuilt... circa £100 ... fit a heavier spring if you think it's necessary ? £50 / £80 approx ?

Job done !

I got mine done by (I think) Firefox racing ... have had mentions on this forum. I stripped it myself (easy with a press and a bit of thought ... DON'T go at it blind ..... or if that type of thing is unfamiliar to you.) They will be used to doing it for people.
Springs I saw from memory from moto(r) works ... purple ones ... I just got mine powder coated yellow , cause I was happy enough with the rating

mototech in dublin are able to rebuild most shocks at a good price,in dublin so well worth a try

Not any more nobody does them now I feel a new bike coming on JJH

Thanks Cortina spoke to Firefox today eureka they do them thanks for your help. Anyone got an old shock they could lend me while I send mine to Firefox ? JJH

Having weighed up all the options and priced up parts and such I quite easily convinced myself and her indoors that the best thing was to replace bike. I now have a f800 GSA x demo lovely. Thanks to Firefox for the time on the phone talking me tro the various options and if I was going to keep the rt I would have dealt with them. JJH
