Hi all, three of the four rubber battery mounts have de-laminated on my R1150GS, i have replacement rubbers but am after any tips on removing the old ones before i damage anything.
I have the battery tray loose and although i have not disconnected the cables attached to the bottom i have reasonable access to the mounts. I have had a quick go at undoing them with some pliers but they appear to be stuck fast. I have squirted a bit of penetrating oil in there and left them for the time being.
Does anyone have any tips on how to undo the old rubber mounts ?

Pair of mole grips far enough down that it grips the bottom metal plate of the bobbin, then twist it back and forth, it'll eventually start to give

you are going to need a chisel and once the rubber is off You want to make the metal disc that he rubber was bonded to rotate Anti clockwise whilst you are looking down on top of the engine!

There is an M6 thread on the engine side of that disc

Thanks for the replies, i figured it would be as simple as that, at least it sounds like it wont matter if i rip the rubber off. I did'nt want to end up with the rubber coming off leaving the discs flush with the mounts with no way of gripping them.

I too have to attend to this issue. Stocks are on the way. All 4 rubber mounts are broken, what's left on the engine top are screwed in studs with barely a few mm of rubber that were hardened. It's sealed up so tight that i dont think penetrant oil is going to make it's way in there.
I am thinking of chipping off a radius on the rubber flat with a chisel to give me an edge in order for me to use a blunt screwdriver and hammer at an angle, go anti clockwise unscrewing the stud. That's the plan. If that fails, I will drill through the centre of mount, getting the bit into the centre of stud then get an extractor to unscrew out the studs. I am hoping it's not too tight in there.
