was in Paris at the weekend with my wife you wouldnt have known there was rugby on,struggled to find somewhere to watch it and when i did i wished i hadnt bothered we were awful definitely wooden spoon material

Clever call by Gatland in team selection today. Putting Roberts in for his 1st full cap against a Scots side where he'll have played against most of them (from Magners League) before. He was also Brave enough to call up Deiniol Jones, most underrated player in the regions, for a well overdue cap off the bench. Only other change I would have made is in the front row where I'd have called up Iestyn Thomas for his scrummaging power (remember what happened to Duncan last year in Scotland?) and not inconsiderable work rate but then I'm biased...see below!!

I was looking at my programme from Wales v France 2006 6nations, the midfield was really strange,i think shanks,Henson and Parker were all injured, but from what i remember ( to much ale) it was a good match. Although Henson and parker play club rugby together i think Henson/Shanks is a better international combination, i feel sometimes Parker is a bit flakey and doesnt think quick enough. Come from Pontardawe originally so have always been a Swansea/Ospreys supporter, so quite pleased with the selection from last saturday. As for Englands Wooden spoon i am for ever optimistic. Have to be a little careful my wife is from the wrong side of the river.
I've just managed to get hold of 4 tickets for the Wales v Scotland match.

There's a seat reserved for beer by the boys from Abercarn:
There's beer, pontoon, crisps and fags and a croakin 'Calon Lan'.

Into Paddington we did roll with an empty crate of ale.
Will had lost at cards and now his Western Mail's for sale.
But Will is very happy though his money all has gone:
He swapped five photos of his wife for one of Barry John.
And we were....................
We got to Twickers early and were jostled in the crowd;
Planted leeks and dragons, looked for toilets all around.
So many there we couldn't budge -twisted legs and pale:
I'm ashamed we used a bottle that once held bitter ale.
And we were singing hymns and arias,
'Land of my Fathers', 'Ar hyd y nos'.
Wales defeated England in a fast and open game.
We sang 'Cwm Rhondda' and 'Delilah',
damn, they sounded both the same.
We sympathised with an Englishman
whose team was doomed to fail
So we gave him that old bottle, that once held bitter ale!

So it's down to Soho for the night,
to the girls with the shiny beads;
To the funny men with lipstick on,

Raised game? No. When someone of the class of Jason White goes off early it's always going to be a struggle. Wales weren't that great either, but that's 2/3's of the way to a triple crown without playing well!
Any tickets available for the Wales v France game??? Grand Slam decider? (although Ireland came good in the 2nd half so can't write them off yet).
Took my kids their first rugby game today and they loved it.
Bloody expensive though.

Got home late Saturday night, enjoyed the day, but, first half thought we were crap to many mistakes. secound half improved but need to work on that if we are to beat Ireland and France. Italy should not present any problems (fingers crossed) at home. What does amaze me every time i go is the amount of people there that seem to have no interest in the game, bunch of girls in front of me all they seem to do all game was chat, get up and down every five minutes to get drinks or go to the loo, one of them spent the whole game on her mobile texting, what a waist of a ticket. A couple of guys that i took a are new to rugby but by the end were completly converted, they loved the fact that all the fans are mixed in together, and that the build up to the game in Cardiff is great. Next game for me is France cant wait.

Yes its getting to be a bit of an allround social event and some attendees appear to be wearing less and less clothing. For every social supporter in the ground there were probably several more in the pubs around.
Probably not a bad thing overall.
Its a great testiment to the game of rugby and the people who support it, the number of police or perhaps the lack of visible presence of the police.
My mate who is a member of a local Rubgy club said the club surrendered their tickets so their Scotish visitors could go and see the game.
I don't think that would happen in football.

I'm reading, "Why men don't listen and why women can't read maps" it explains the chatting and so on....doesn't make it any less infuriating though!!!

Just watched Blues v Munster on s4c. What a finnish, glad they turned Munster over at the end. I think Munster seemed to be content on hiding the ball for the last 10 mins.
Bottom! Just got in and avoided BBC.com and all the others that were going to tell me the score ahead of me sitting down with my curry and sky +, and where do I find the result.....UKGSER!!!! All I knew was that they were losing at half time I think, 8 - 10, but the small consolation is I now know it's worth watching! (I'll tell my lovely wife nothing of my knowledge of the result...or we could end up watching some hospital drama!!).

Looked at the team sheet for Saturday, cant help myself but i do feel optimistic about this game, Wales to win by 10. Have warned my neighbours that there may be a little bit of noise coming from my livingroom at about 13:30 ish.
