Run to Tomintoul

Me

and my mate Ben

took a wee run up to Tomintoul yesterday, Ben on his SV1000 and me on my GS.
We left my bit and headed for Blairgowrie where we had a bacon roll/juice stop.

There was a shop called the music box that was playing old music onto the street. Apparently they cated for all tastes in music.

From there we headed to Braemar, through Glenshee. This road is superb. The pictures really do not do it justice.

Ben stopped for a pish.

There is a chairlift and a cafe at Glenshee Ski centre.
Not much snow on the hills at the moment though.

Ben really enjoyed the ride through Glenshee

You can tell by his cheesy grin.

The road to Tomintoul becomes singletrack, great fun, just watch out for gravel and tour buses.
The road takes you over a big hill. you can see for miles around.

After Tomintoul we headed to Grantown on Spey to get fuel for Ben's bike. The road is great fun with some really steep parts and hairpin bends.
Again the scenery is brilliant and the photos struggle to show how good it is.

After we got petrol it was just a quick blast home down the A9, stopping at Ballinluig for a coffee, the home for some

Why not come a different route from Blairgowrie...come via Dundee, TRB and stop off in Leven for a coffee? It'll make a change of scenery from your usual route to the Lothians...

The Music Box, Blairgowrie is owned by Tommy Newcomen. I was at school with him. I remember he played Gudbye T'Jane (Slade) on his accordian at a music class in aboot 1973. It was amazing! Here is a photoe o' the man himsel'...

Tommy also wrote Marillion's big hit "Ceilidh"

You could hardly see the road ,my visor misted up aswell just to add to the challenge
Had a couple of slips on the overbanding glad to make Blairgowrie in one piece !

Nice run, pretty much anywhere around Granton is good.
Any time you are up on the high ground and the weather comes at you can be, Erm, interesting. I keep getting caught at the top of Rannoch after long days in the saddle.
