Anyone running K60s on their F800gs.
I use them on my 1100 and love them - we are doing the Aragon HISS and some dessert trails in Oct and wondering if they would be good on my wife's 800.
She loves the handling with Scorp trails and wondering if K60s would make a huge difference on road.

Many thanks

No direct experience on an 800 but if she is comfortable with the way they move about in fast corners she should be fine with them.

An awesome tyre for long distance work. On my 1150GS I fitted them in Glasgow, rode to Pershore in Worcestershire and shipped the bike to the USA. Over 8,500 miles over there, back to Pershore, down to Cornwall, back to Glasgow. Still legal after around 10,000 miles when I changed them prior to a track day.

I very nearly did the track on them as well just to see what they could do.:D The only reason I didn't is that I'd melted Tourances on a previous day and thought that it may be an ask too much for the Scouts. I'm too old to go somersaulting down the track playing dodge the bike(s).

That's great mileage.

I'm changing my rear tomorrow with 8.5K but that includes the Stella and a couple other rocky trails in and around the Alps - the front looks fine.

I love mine on tarmac; as good if not better than tourances, but I know each bike reacts differently to different tyres and don't want to spoil the sweet handling of the 800. :thumby:

I used them on my F8GS from Mongolia back to the UK. I would say they're a 3 out of 5 at best.

I don't think they provide great grip off road - especially compared to TKC80s but they're more hard wearing so probably better suited for adventure touring. I don't think they're great in the wet on road either. NB: mine have a continuous bead of rubber around the centre of the tyre. There is a variant that has gaps, this would probably be better, at least in the dirt. In the dry on road they're average.

The rear can be a PITA to change yourself as the tyre wall is very strong and so it can be hard to break the bead. I use the side stand trick but with the K60 the side wall would support the whole weight of the bike via the side stand without breaking. I had to bounce the bike up and down to break the bead. It will break but with patience and some skill. The TKC80 is easy peasey in comparison!

I still have a set good as new if you want to do a couple hundred miles to try them out... just come and get them.

Thanks for the offer.

As ever opinions differ and there's always a compromise where tyres are concerned. We'll be doing easy trails for about a week, then roads for the next 2 weeks. I have found the K60s perform just as well (for me) as Tourances on the road and my wife , although quick is not super fast.

I think they'll be the best compromise - I'l get some feed back from her and post it up. We can always put some road biased tyres back on for the winter.

Thanks for the replies :beerjug:

Hi GSpod, I have had the new K60 on my F800 for about 5k miles. I will be going to the HISS on them - they will be pretty worn by the time I get there.

For a dual purpose tyre I think they are great on tarmac in the dry and I am always cautious on knobblies in the wet. I have used them a lot on green lanes and they are OK if you drop the pressure to 20psi - that continuous strip of rubber in the centre means they dont have good grip on hard wet trail (rock, chalk, firm wet grass) unless you drop pressures. That said I have been out today on 32psi on some lanes in the wet and they behaved OK.

I experience a rumble through bars on braking at low speed but used to it now. It does not seem to affect handling or braking.

I will look for something else when these need replacing but not because I dont rate them - just want to try something a bit more gripping for the rocky lanes.

OK
We had a chat last night and after having a go on mine she would prefer a more road based tyre, and I think the trails at the HISS will be fine - she did the Parpillion on road tyres a few years ago :thumb2

Having trawled through the threads here and on other forums it looks like she'll go for Tourances - I ran them for years and never had any complaints.

Thanks for all the input :beerjug:

REM - are you going to Aragon or Pyranees - we're at Aragon. Can't wait :JB

I love the K60, but I guess my opinion is of no consequence now!

I highly recommend the Trail Attack as a road tyre, awesome levels of grip wet or dry.

Anyone tried the new Anakee 3 yet?
