Been changing the oil in the forks and measured the spring before putting it vack in. It measures approx 510 mm.

Thing is I have an S and they are supposed to be 573-560 (ish) mm

How do I tell if the previous keeper swapped for E shocks (as that seems to be the case) or if these are a dodgy set of springs stuck in the S shocks?

Have a S <-> H on the bottom of the leg if that helps and it is a 54 plate.

Cheers.

Will give them a call maybe next week. Also, the fork oil quantity (level) is different to that of the E so I don't want to put too much in..

Maybe a job for next weekend.

If it's a 54 plate, the S and the E forks are allegedly the same.

The 2000MY S bikes had thinner forks.

You should expect the spring to get shorter as the bike is used.

The service limit for an S spring is 561mm (22.1").

So the springs must be E's as they can't have compressed 50mm - I am not THAT fat :). Just don't want to put too much oil in. I will check the levels after I put 720ml in rather than 710ml (for the S). It is 129mm from top of fork to oil on the S, not sure what it is for the E yet.

The previous owner was a nob btw.

Cheers
