I borrowed an S10 today, and I only had it for a few hours, so not sure i should be claiming its the best quite yet but did like the way it corners, almost no effort required to get it to drop into corners without having to fight it.
I liked the seat, and in the 2 hours I had it, I had no numb bum problems, although i was quite surprised to find that if I had found myself getting a wee bit uncomfortable, there is room on the seat to move about a bit if you want to. The screen is a little bit too low for me,and I'm only 5ft9", but the buffeting was restricted to the top of my lid and not directed straight at my visor. I noticed the different power modes are quite distinct , and there is quite a big difference between Touring, and Sport mode. Sport mode really seems to go for it, and Touring mode would be ideal if you want to eke out a bit more economy and are definitely not in a hurry. While on the subject of economy, I found I was getting 56.5 MPG according to the computer. This was not achieved by gently pootling either, this was done riding the bike as normal, although my interpretation of normal and the next persons is probably quite different. I woud guess that that figure is not to be sniffed at when 122MPH comes up and it doesnt change much. That speed was achieved on the runway at Blackbushe Airport by the way, before I get a mild telling off for racing on a public road. or for being a twat..
Brakes. Check, yes. seemed to pull up very well and didnt have any intervention from the ABS. The traction control did seem to work, and I'm sure i felt the back light up for a very very short space of time and then get reeled in by the traction control. the seat height is just about right too, with me being able to sit on it with both feet almost but not quite flat on the floor. Didnt vibrate too much, in fact it just got on with the job it seemed to be designed for.
I did think it was a wee bit quiet, and had it been my bike and I had just found a suitcase full of money at the side of the road, i think i would definitely invest in different exhausts for it. I would also get a taller screen, some luggage, heated grips, and i know you all hate them, but....... AN ALARM.......
Would I buy one??? Yes. Will it be right now, err NO.
must concentrate on my hunt for a bargain banger till i get my compo in whatever year they see fit to settle up. Oh and on the comfort side of things not a twinge or a hint of trouble from my kernackered shoulder, so looks like the bars/seat distance ratio thingy is about right too. either that or my friends Nurofen and Ibuprofen are misleading me yet again....
