Nicky and myself are planning to try out some lanes in Salisbury area (make a change from Wales!!).

I know better than to ask for routes, but can anyone point me towards the right areas, more importantly which areas to avoid after looking at the map and seeing the 'Danger' areas?

Any help would be appreciated I would be happy to return the favour with a day out around the trails in mid-Wales

P.S. Nicky would like to point out that she's a novice on a DRZ400.

Cheers

Louis

Hey Louis

I have the route that we took at the Hograost but not with me in the US. I'm back in blighty after the 6th so can send it to you then. I'm sure Nicky would be up to that route. If the timing works would love to join you guys. :beerjug:

Just be a little care full, as the routes that you took at THE HOGRAOST were guided to give you the best ride for the time of year, and missing RED FLAGS as this area is very RED FLAG sencative.

Your guide Paul at THE HOGRAOST has 30 Years knowlage.

By all means exchange and use routes, as they are BY WAYS. But be carefull we were very lucky on the Saturday.

RED FLAGS mean NO GO and RED AND YELLOW flags mean extended NO GO.

Yes the Red flags is there a web site or contact number so I can find out when and where there be resticted use ? So I can plan a route around the resticted areas

Or is it just a Luck thing and be flexible on the day

Don't want to tread on anyones toes my using your HOGRAOST route just hoping to get as much information so we can have a good day out :thumb2

cheers

Louis

I think its just pot luck as to whats open on the day. If you get yourself an OS Explorer all the BOATS are marked on there and there are flippin loads.

Louis

The map is 130 and 131, if you look on the map flags are shown, you can mostly work your way around on the gravel roads that runs around the outer of the ranges.

Any gravel roads that lead to ranges will be gated.

I have been turned back for being in the wrong place only on one occassion just be very appoligetic.

The civil wardens are understanding, its to soon to retiring R.S.M`s that throw there weight.

Just tips :thumb2

Thank's for the Tips:thumb

Have maps and have been looking at routes over the past week or so

flexible on the day seem to be the order of the day

Cheers

I believe the Imber Range will be open this coming weekend (a rare event by all accounts) so may well boogie on down on Friday for a wazz around on the Saturday. You or Paul about Steve?

Sorry camping in Houlgate, just 2 miles up the coast from Caen off ferry spoting.

Eurocamp, sorry

Also Paul out of action, back in the raining season.

Huge Thank You

For taking us out today, the route was perfect.

As you can see by the photo Nicky was all smiles!

The route was a good mix which we both found challenging, it was great not to have to look at a map once, not that our expert guide needed to.

In your debt, if you want a ride into Mid-Wales more than happy to return the favour.

Cheers

Louis & Knackered Nicky
