How do i charge my tablet from my bike, do i buy a usb connection in a cigarette plug? what about 12v going into the tablet. Hi Tech is not my field.

For the Samsung tablet you want a 2 amp (2000mA) or higher USB power socket.

Easiest way is a hella to normal adaptor lead and a car USB power thingy. I like the Griffin stuff, robust and a good fit into a lighter socket.

This setup would need to be in a tankbag as it isn't waterproof.

Beware of many of the motorbike specific power leads, often they are only 1A and the usb socket isn't go to thank you if out in the rain.

I've looked into this quite a bit, as was going to charge my tablet in the top box while on the move. So far, my thoughts are
- cheap power lead from fuse box /or direct to battery to just outside top box
- SAE connector from this wire - joins power inside top box. (as want to remove top box now and again!)
- then plug usb insert into power inside top box
Problems I have found so far:
- nowhere can i find just SAE plugs (all seem to come with a lead!)
-4 suppliers on e bay could bother to answer there fcnkg queries re does it definitely work with Samsung Tablet
-(had at least 2 instances where I had to return these USB inserts as they did not power a Samsung tablet - despite explicitly stating so on website)
- samsung has a known problem charging from a source other than 240v...check the net
- so for next trip I won't be using tablet!
