hi all,
going to spain with wife in september for 8-10 days poss, anyone know any mountain/non motorway routes they would recommend? I would like to spend 1-2 days in big towns to sight see if possible and spend 2-3 days in murcia before returning. any ideas muchcho grateful!!

thanks

Sos del Rey Catalico is worth a visit and if you are in Burgos try looking at staying at Monastir del Piedra, an old monastery surrounded by waterfalls.

Segovia is a wonderful place to stop on your way

If you want a nice place to stay for your last night on your return I would recommend Casa Zalama. Lovely rooms, brilliant wines and food and only 50 miles or so to the port.

Might even see you there!

I've stayed in all of these Paradores touring Northern Spain on bike, absolutely amazing, for what you get not too expensive. You don't get many chances to stay in places like these, well worth it just for the experience. King Juan Carlos stayed at Baiona the day we left, so if it's good enough for him....

Cervera de Pisuerga, León, Baiona, Lerma, Fuente Dé, Zamora, Segovia, Cangas de Onís, Salamanca, Ávila :thumb

Any reason you are going to Murcia in particular? I visit that region at least once a year either by bike or plane/car and to be honest, although Murcia is 'nice' you'd be better of detouring, not going so far East and drop into the Granada region.

Are you camping at all?

I ve done the exact trip you are talking about except we kept going down to LaManga.
