Just posted this in the Accommodation section as well.
Just spent a couple of days in SDC, which by the way is an absolutely stunning place to visit.
Stayed at the Casas Reais http://casasreais.es/#
It doesn't look much from the outside but the rooms are lovely and air conditioned - essential as it was 25-30C during the day. Also it's location is perfect, as you come in from the north you just turn right up a drop kerb where there is a pedestrian crossing, go through the bollards and unload the bike. You then go back over the road to an underground secure car park, you get a discount from the hotel, it still cost 20E but it was worth it for peace of mind. The hotel is on the edge of the old city and the central square and cathedral are just a couple of minutes walk away. The old city is fabulous, loads of history, architecture and all the streets are old flagstones. The streets are narrow so loads of cool shade in the Summer heat. Lots of talented street performers and things going on and a great market for fresh veg, cheese, breads and meats. The location of the hotel is fantastic for exiting the city, within five minutes we were on the A54 heading north and then onto the N634 which is an amazing stretch of wide, smooth tarmac through loads of sweeping bends in mountainous scenery. Well recommended, treat yourself to a visit to SDC and then head north and then east on the N634 and N632 for an absolutely spectacular ride into the Cantabrian mountains and Picos De Europa.
