Hi all, my first posting and I'm seeking help .

I've just taken delivery of a Sargent Low seat, but having compared it with my original BMW Low seat, it's signifcantly higher (approx 0.5") and I'm thinking maybe it's an incorrectly labelled standard hight seat.
Yes I have it adjusted at the lowest setting.

Does anyone know how to establish for sure what the actual height of my Sargent seat is.

At the back it measures 2.5" high and the stitching across the seat is 4.3" from the back.

Many thanks Nick

You .............. sounds like you have a Sargent low seat to me.
Mine measures exactly the same. Are you struggling height wise?

many thanks for measuring your seat, much appreciated.
I'm slightly disappointed it's higher than the original as the blurb stated it's lower and I like the ability to get both feet on the ground. But from a comfort aspect it's far better, so I can live with the height.

Regards Nick

You'll be fine. The 1200 is a big animal but you'll soon get used to handling it.
Do you have the standard bike or Adventure?

Nix - once you load the bike, and include your own weight, (unless you are 5ft tall that is) - you will be able to do what you want with your feet.

I have the standard GS, it's one of the last of the previous version and mostly I'm delighted. But like many, I've struggled with the long distance arse comfort of the original low seat, made worse by back problems.

your probably right, I expect fully loaded with her indoors on the back everything will be fine and dandy. I just wanted to be sure that having spent all my hard earned on a seat, I haven't ended up with the standard height.

Thanks guys !

Exactly the same feelings overwhelmed me when I bought my seat. Firstly they do give a little over the first couple of weeks. secondly they are slightly wider than the standard seat which means your legs are slightly more "splayed " out which effectively shortens the effective length of your legs.

Just shift slightly over when you come to a standstill and let the seat bed in and you will forget you ever had the problem. The Sergent is an excellent investment and certainly has eliminated all my comfort issues.
