Has anyone used a Sargent riders seat on LC GSA. Was wondering if it make's enough difference to warrent the cost.

Good question... looking forward to some valuable input here

I have the rider and pillion seats on my 2017 GSA and IMO much better than stock. The seat is also slightly wider too, which you might need to take in to consideration if you are a short arse :augie :D

Got both Sargent seats on my 2015 GSA. A lot better than stock, but not all day comfortable for me. 150 miles and I have to get off. But then i have a skinny arse.............. apparently.

Also considering a Sargent.

I typically do 400-500 mile days when commuting to SW France and back. I am using a stock seat on my GSA LC modified by Tony Archer and sometimes an Airhawk with it. Cycling underwear too - typically after 300 or so miles I get serious butt-hurt.

My question really is that as I am 6ft 4in, I like to sit towards the back of the seat. Does the Sargent place you any further forward than stock at all?

Cheers chaps.

When preparing for the Iron-butt 1000 mile days as well as normal short spirited riding, the seat was a major consideration for me and hence my 2p below:

Looking (have not used one) at the Sargeat seats, they do provide comfort on long rides (as many people would attest), but for my riding style, where I like to move on the seat when navigating bends and occassionaly also slightly change seat positions on long rides, it seemed that the sargeant, with its cupped shape, would keep me relatively more fixed to one position.

Wunderlich and Touratech on the other hand, do not provide custom solutions, but the seats are well contoured to provide support at the correct places and at the same time enabling easier movement on the seat.

I finally went for a Touratech seat and loving it (especailly after completing two IBA rides). Experienced a Wunderlich on a mates' bike and both TT and Wunderlich seem to be the same.

Hope that information helps in your decision.

I have front and rear on my 2016 GSA. Love them. Just got back from a 3500 mile ride to Greece and back. A few long days! Seat comfort was never an issue. Pilion concurs.

I had a Sargent low set on my GS LC and hated it. It was far too hard and the edges dug into my thighs. The thicker standard height Sargent seat my be better. The missus hated the pillion seat too. The stock seats have bedded in nicely now, so I'm glad I stuck with them :thumby:

That was my experience too, hated them but my pre-LC one was awesome.

Got standard height Sargent seats front and rear. Brilliant for 400+ mile days. Key features vs OEM BMW seat:
- More horizontal to stop you sliding into the tank.
- Cups your arse, with a coccyx tailbone cutout.
- Wider at the rear of the seat.
- Slightly wider under thigh.
- Great underseat storage big enough for basic tools, tyre puncture kits etc
- Pillion seat also more sculpted and reduces pillion from sliding into main rider
- Wife no longer complains on ride outs (this alone is worth the price of admission!)

Agree with all of the above. The main difference is I never think about the seat. It just does the job. Stowage space is useful. I carry a disc lock in the pillion stowage and tools in the riders stowage. Definately works for me. A great buy.

From a cost point of view, if you are fortunate to be able to buy used seats as I did - front and rear in immaculate condition for just over half the new price - then if they do not suit you can sell them on without difficulty, probably for the same price you paid - keep your eyes open on here but be quick because Sargent seats sells very quickly
