are these seats exactly the same height as the standard seat .

Yes, but a low Sargent seat is available, they are wider though so may feel higher because of this width. I have a low one fitted to my GS and get on fine with it.

I've got a low Sargent seat and find it a lot more comfortable than the standard. But it is a very subjective thing.
Some find them uncomfortable and swear by other brands.
Try and borrow one for a day and try it. Takes seconds to change over.

thanks for the replies, just wondering which to get the lower one or the standard ,as I have the standard seat on my 1200 gsa and thats an arse killer after an hour or so and with dodgy knees a bit precarious at times when paddling around .

The standard height sargent seat is the same nominal height as a standard GS seat. The GSA OEM seat is a little higher than a GS by just under an inch. Roughly speaking a standard height sargent is the same height as a GSA seat on the lower of the two height settings.

I had the standard BMW seat and swapped it for the standard Sargent seat and it's very good. I regularly do 300mile days with no issues. The seat is much wider around your bum but still narrow at the front so it's comfy but you can still put your foot down with ease when you stop. I'm almost flat footed when I stop (6"1' with 32" leg)

Maybe the lowered version would suit better.
Not scientifically measured, but I think that my lowered Sargent is around the same as a standard GS seat when on the high setting and around an inch lower on the low setting. I'm a 29" inside leg and manage fine as long as I plan where I'm stopping with regard to road camber.
If you do have dodgy knees, remember that you will have to bend them slightly more with a lowered seat.
Then you'll need to lower your foot rests...
Also, 300 mile days with no problem. I found the standard seat torture in a lot less.
