Wonder if anyone can provide a pointer on the starter solenoid terminals. Looked at the wiring diagram in Haynes and the PDF for the 00 1150GS and both seem have a live feed 10mm wire from the battery.

Fine but there are three terminals, the smaller spade connector seems to be the only live/hot terminal. I would have thought it would have been the top larger terminal that looks like it's connected to the battery. The latter runs under the battery box so can't really see and it has no voltage with the ignition off.

So is the spade connector the live feed, the diagram appears to indicate that it's coming from the starter relay so should only be live when the starter button is pressed with the ignition on?

Apologies in advance if the answer is probably staring me in the face but it's bugging me:D

Cheers

Top cable is permanently live. You can charge the battery and jump start the bike through this terminal

Relay

The spade terminal would be from the starter switch this energises realy when starting engine (relay is another name for a solinoid).

No it's not.

The starter switch operates the starter relay, which lives in the fuse box. The starter relay energises the starter solenoid which is attached to the starter motor and is visible in the diagram above.
