Is it possible to mount a sat nav above the clocks on a 650GS twin? The usual bar mounts look like they obstruct the clocks etc :blast

have got standard screen at the mo, but looking to get a larger unit (MRA or 800GS touring) which would provide the right amount of height above the clocks for the sat nav

Happy bikeing in 2013 to you all:beer::beer:

I cannot answer your question, but my Zumo 660/BMW navigator is tank mounted. Very good except no space for a tank bag

Going the other way ...

... we used a 'Ram' product to replace one of the handlebar pinch bolts and then a short Ram arm to the Garmin cradle. Works well for Jaq as she doesn't like tank bags anyway :thumb

alder enterprises make a neat wee mount for the middle of the bars without obscuring clocks

As an alternative maybe look at WRS touring screen -

Very happy with mine. If you're ever heading South and want to take it on a test ride let me know.

I Have a Britiania Composites mirage 2 screen which allows you to mount the sat nav above the clocks. so far its the best screen I have had and i love the look of it on the bike. Can upload a photo of it if you like?

Only negative point is it hails from canada so by the time you pay for shiping it and import duties it can end up being rather expensive.

The other option that I have used myself is a Metal Mule screen with a screen bar, used this set up till I cam across the mirage second hand. Always wanted one so decided to go for it. Again I can upload a few photos of it if you like.

The Screen bar isn't listed on the Metal Mule website but I use to work for them so I can sort it out for you if you like?

I had a 550 zumo mounted to mine. The bar only mount to a Metal Mule Sceen so you would have to buy both, i think its around £180 for the lot.

I have also had the BMW touring screen and found it directed more wind onto me, also not sure if you can mount stuff on the bars either but i may be wrong.

is all down to personal taste though, The Mirage 2 is the 4th screen Ive brought for the bike!

Let us know if you like the set up and I can sort it out for you!

Hey @SERVDAVE where did you get the screen bar from?

thanks mark

Have Just contacted Metal Mule to see if they are still doing them and if I can get one for you and at what price?

use to work for them so I have a good relationship with Paul. It was never released as a finished product. It was fitted to my bike so I could test out the design.

You can tell as the sat nav mount itself was basic just to see if the position was correct and if the vibrations up high effected anything.

It will probably come without a satnav mount so it would be up to you to work out how to mount it. Its 18mm tube.

Any more question just drop me a PM.

RAM mounts for me too. On my F800GS I have angled my TomTom so it appears just to the left of my dials. The RAM allows plenty of positional flexibility and when (hand) tightened doesn't move at all.

hello guys, yes very interested! its for a mk 2 tom tom rider. is it possible to attach a pic of how you have got the tom tom at the side of the clocks without fouling the steering @ Ford_Stuntman

Here you go. TomTom Rider with RAM mounts. There is a ball plate on the back of the Nav and the ball column on the handle bar section, as pictured. The clamp connects both very securely, no vibration or movement.
