I need to replace the touch screen on my 2610. garmin don't repair that model anymore (bless them). Anyone know where I can get it fixed?

take it apart. Find a manufacturer's name on the touchscreen. Google it and buy and fit a replacement!!
I'm no techie expert, but I've done this kind of thing with Palm PDAs and Nokia phones. Surprisingly easy to work on.

Let us all know when you find a source. I too need to replace my screen also.
The non reflective layer just peeled off one night, just like your skin does after sunburn.

satnav hire over in sandyford is the agent for garmin, google it for the website
If the touch screen is just playing up try sliding a thin bit of plastic or something similar under the screen seal to clear away crud. If that fails take it to bits and make sure the seal is clean. I had to do this to mine when the Garmin repair cost was £130. I thought I'd give it a try as the bloke said the repair was that price irespective of the fault. Its worked fine ever since........probably not as water proof as it once was though.

Thanks for the info folks, there is a hole in the screen and the surface of it disintegrated. garmin said that they don't fix the 2610 model anymore. It will probably be cheaper to buy a good second hand model, I was very happy with the 2610 and would hate to see it unused. I put a small piece of elec tape over the hole and covered the edges with silicone. Works fine in the car but areas of the screen are u/s.

Just to let you know the very same thing happened to my 2610, started to bubble up and couldn't see the screen properly. I peeleed off all of that layer that started to bubble up, right to the edge, and the screen seems ok now. It is still waterproof, as it has been this way on my bike for 6 months now, no real problems other than the screen scratching up a bit.
I had planned to send it off for repair but was moving house and never got round to it......

When mine failed I contacted Garmin who told me they no longer repaired the 2610. as an alternative they sent me a new Zumo 550 with all the bits for the price of a 2610 repair. Worth asking if they still do that?
Yes I was offered that a 550 or the 2720.
I did not fancy the 550 because it would have meant changing my brackets as well,more expense and the 2720 is a disc drive so i believe and i dont know how well in reality it would last on a bike with the vibration.
|If the repair is really only gonna be £50 i think |I will stick with the 2610.
But thanks for pointing it out,may well be a valid option for others tho.

Don't think so. I'm sure mine is just internal memory, rather than a disc drive. I believe it was some of the 2620's that had the disc thingy inside it.
I like the 2720. Fits my old 2610 mount, but does full postcode search, and has the 3D map view.
