Looking to have Sat Nav fitted to 2006 GS1200 any suggestions which device is best with Canbus and where to get it fitted, don't fancy BMW prices...

There are various mounts on the market......Ram, Migsel, Touratech etc. Some Navs come with a full bike mounting kit, usually Ram.

As for wiring it on your bike, I avoided the Canbus and took the lead straight to the battery. The advantage of this is that it does not power down when I switch off the ignition so I can still change routes etc. It is also very easy to fit yourself.

I never leave the Sat Nav on the bike, so draining the battery is not an issue.

Hope this helps

Mike

Have a look for a second hand Zumo, thay are fantastic bits of kit.

You will need a BMW plug which fits straight into the Canbus near the headstock. If you look there, you will see it cable tied to the headstock. Really east to do:thumb

A brand new Zumo 220 is £300 on Amazon, a canbus plug £8 from BMW.

Fitting a similar (£400)Zumo 660 to a GS took me around a slow hour with lots of cable ties - although I had to get some help ID-ing the correct female end tucked behind the clocks.
