I have to complete the running in of a new bike on Saturday. The weather forecast is (so far) OK.

I have planned a circular route taking in a good mixture of main and lesser roads.

Departing from Chelmsford - Tesco Miami Roundabout (fuel available) - at 09:30
Great Dunmow
Saffron Walden
Via Linton and Dullingham to Newmarket
Barton Mills (Mildenhall) - Walker's cafe - fuel available

==

Fordham
Wicken
Haddenham
Earith
St Ives
Abbotts Ripton
Sawtry
Conington
Glatton
Great Gidding
Old Weston
Catworth
Kimbolton
Stonely
Croxton
Madingly
Duxford
Great Abingdon (Fourwentways services and the Comfort cafe) - fuel available

===

Linton
Hadstock
Saffron Walden
Thaxted
Great Dunmow
Chelmsford

===

I would guess that it is about 230 miles.

If anyone wants to join me, let me know. I plan to be at Tesco's Miami Roundabout store (with a full tank of fuel) from about 09:00.

Richard

Sounds like a good rideout. I've got a yes from the fun regulator so I'll be there as things stand now.

there is a very small chance that I might be able to get out,but I would have to head for home from thaxted or dunmow to get back towards bury/diss area.
but don't wait for me if I am not there at 9.30ish I won't be, ok:beerjug:
I have found a tesco on my M.S. in chelmsford,I assume there is only one?and it's on a round about?

There are two. One on Springfield Road that has no fuel and one on Princes Road that has fuel. They are both on roundabouts.

At Brands Hatch (again) for the Formula Ford festival on Saturday - Sunday however is free ....

Hi Richard, any chance I could pick up with you in the Saffron Walden area as I live in Royston and probably drop off again in Duxford as I have committments for the afternoon?

Hi everyone.

The Tesco store address is: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UT...3272164546601970206&ei=RbT3SKijCojU2wKDv_SaDA

All are more than welcome.

At Saffron Walden I will (from memory) head in on the B184 from Great Dunmow and out on the B1052 towards Hadstock. I think there is a mini-roundabout, where we turn right towards Hadstock. It's at the top of the Common.

For those that want to drop in or out, that is fine. I would point out that it is probably over 200 miles to do the complete loop, so it will take a better part of the day to complete it, assuming a decent stop at Walker's and the Comfort cafe for tea etc.

If there is enough interest I can enter the route on an excel file.

Ok, this is definitely on for tomorrow, Saturday.

I will be at Tesco at about 09:00 or close to, for the 09:30 departure.

I think we have:

Novice / Intermediate (refugee from the London section)

Ukaloon

Spock - diving off at Thaxted?

BrianMaslen - Joining at Saffron Walden?

Sherpatensing - Sneaking in by PM - at St Ives.

Hi I'm defintely on for this tomorrow so will aim to pick up with you at Saffron Walden. I will aim for the mini roundabout at the top of the common on the B1052 towards Hadstock, can't say i know it but should be fairly easy to find. Failing that i'll find the next convenient stop leaving Saffron W on the B1052 before it gets to Little Walden on route for Linton. Mapoint suggests its around 27 miles to Saffron from Chelmsford so probably take you about 45 minutes, so i'll be there for 10. Mobile number is 07799 696310if you miss me and i'll be on a Red 1200GS. See you all tomorrow..hopefully!

Excellent, Brian, see you there.

Here is an Excel route.

I had to do a bit of it from memory, looking at a map but it's near enough right.

On leaving the Comfort cafe we could always come back thro' Saffron Walden B1053 via Sewards End, Radwinter, Great Sampford, Little Sampford, Finchingfield, B1057 Great Bardfield, Bran End, Great Dunmow, Chelmsford.

See you all tomorrow.

Richard

Yes i'll second the comment above, great ride out Richard, most enjoyable roads, great scenery and good company. Thanks for organising the run.

Also thanks from me, a good ride through our patch and you were right about the weather being the better day of the weekend.Nice to meet the fellow Gs'ers and to Noddy who made me feel less left out being on the other R1100Gs (Lego bike) amongst the other 1200's.

See you all soon
