Saving routes to a flash drive help

Hi
Im trying to save my route to a flash drive by using the (export to device) and picking the flash drive .
However when I later try to import the same route by reversing the above procedure ie (from the flash drive to map source the route is roughly there , with the right way points but in a dead straight line (as the crow flies) not on the roads.
What am i doing wrong ?

I've never heard of that being done, I send my routes to the 32Gb card in my 660, and it works a treat.. plus you can send almost as many routes as you like, and import them as and when needed...
