Scarborough - worth the trip?

We are going to visit the Aged Pees this weekend and instead of the usual trip to Skipton and the Dales I thought of Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.
Do they still have the Peasholme Park battle ship stuff? Are the fish and chips in Whitby worth queueing up for .. or has it all can to pot?

Scarborough and Whitby have gone downhill in my opinion in recent years

Robin Hoods Bay is nice but after 20 minutes you've done it all

Stick to the Dales!

Definitely worth the trip. I NEVER tire of it, and I live here.

Have a blast 'round on Sunday.....If the weather's good, there will be plenty of 'bikes around the Marine Drive

Best fish shop up here is on Eastgate in Pickering.......a nice thrash over from Scarborough or Whitby.

Take a blast over the moors up to Rosedale via Blakey Ridge, then over to Whitby and down to Scarborough.

Naval battles still go ahead at Peasholm but there's a ceasefire until May

Some superb biking roads with terrific scenery!
Whitby is very scenic but very, very busy in summer

if you fancy a change from fish an chips try the Whitby Crab Salad in The Magpie Cafe, get there earlyand beat the Q.
Then you may have room to squeeze down a small fish and a few wafer thin chips on the return journey.

Where to go

Dont bother with Scarbrough its full of drunks on a weekend from Leeds area. Go to Whitby area but dont eat fish and chips in Whitby go to Thompsons on the A64 near york ten times better. I live in Whitby. If i go for a ride i use Stape, Dalby, Crompton, Pickering, Malton, Fimber, Wetwang, Driffield, Foxholes, Sherburn, Best roads out. Dont go to Helmsley full of Tossers, no not us the other kind Power Rangers. have a good ride

IIRC, you can eat in, but I haven't tried it....The fish and chips are definitely better than any that I have eaten in Scarborough......HOWEVER, If you are ever a bit further north, this place is the absolute ultimate.....
