Have just bought my first flip lid - a C3, and am very pleased, quiet, great new fixing device (even better than D rings), and love the flip down dark visor. However, I cannot fit my Cardo bluetooth from the Tomtom (use for phone also) as the clamp fits on left hand side, which is where the slider which controls the flip down dark visor is. Can't mount it behind this as it interferes with the cable which controls said visor.
I have had a look at the Ride magazine stuff last month, and notice that the Interide can be mounted on either side, and also comes with a sticky backed mount to glue on outside of the helmet. Anyone any experience fitting any of these to a flip lid especially C3? Can you get the sticky baseplate off once it's on?

I had to get a longer boom on the Cardo and mount it further back on my C2.

Email the Cardo guys and they'll make one up for you. I since got rid and have gone the autocom route

The sticky residue can be easily removed using nail varnish remover.

Email the Cardo guys 'address in you instruction manual' they can then tel you where to find the extra long boom/mount. They will also be able to tell you where you can get the new self adhesive attachment for helmets like the C3.

I bought the latest version of the Cardo Q2 which came with MP3 attachment cable and self adhesive mountings.

There you go! Problem solved and you don't even have to change your system :thumb2
I'll be doing just this when I pluck up the courage to spend the 380 odd quid for a C3.

C3 Returned

Well - I have had the C3 mentioned for 2 weeks. Took it back today and got my £450 refunded. I spent yesterday on one of those Rapid Training courses and so did 250 miles. The last 2 hours were in pouring rain, and down the AI and across London. Lucky to survive. The visor misted up +++, and when having it open just a fraction to allow some air in to try & prevent the misting, rain just ran down the inside from the top - indeed raindrops were coming straight into my eyes from the gap at the top. I couldn't see a thing!! This morning the Pinlock is full of water - can't find that gap. The reason for the return is that the chin curtain that seals under my chin constantly comes out - and won't clip into where it should go. But for me - I can't have a helmet that I can't see where I'm going on a cold rainy day - and I can do that in my Shoei Raid II or the HJC Carbon. When you pay £450 for a helmet you expect to be a bit of a Rolls Royce - and the C3, although it fits me better than any other helmet - was not.
Thanks for all your advice about fitting Bluetooth - very useful.

Phew - that's saved me another £400!

I've just made the decision to sell on the £150 (discounted) Vemar Jiano helmet with integral bluetooth for exactly the same reason - water pouring down the inside of the 'coated' visor (no pinlock) and steaming up the visor - and that's with the visor 'closed'!

Luckily my ~10 year old X-Lite flip was still in the loft and I had a new visor for it - so against all reason I'm back with that for the time being.

Can anyone recommend a REALLY good flip-front helmet?

We recently purchased two C3's and I must admit that it's the best helmet I've ever worn (flip or full face).... I fitted an Autocom system which took all of 25mins to do both helmets, so can't comment on bluetooth installs.

With regard to the visor misting-up, I found the chin vent very effective in clearing the visor, I will admit that it can mist-up but I can only suggest it does so because the helmet is so well sealed.

Also I haven't bothered to check the owners manual but having put aftermarket pin locks into other helmets the instructions always state that you should not ride with the visor in the open position when raining because they will be prone to water ingress, so I would imagine that this instruction covers all pin lock systems.

Just my pennies worth
