schuberth E1

Got one, loving it. Little bit tight in a couple of places but I'm sure it will loosen.

Good ventilation, especially with visor up, sunshade down. Have to close visor when standing over 60mph as it gets a bit blowy.

Good visibility, pretty quiet, not too heavy, like the flip front for petrol stations.

I have one,

Wanted a peaked modular for a while now and went to try on the E1 locally and walked out the shop with one.

The helmet is quiet, the sun shade is superb optically and the peak does exactly what i want in that riding into the sun a little dip of the head makes it so much easier to see straight ahead.

The peak does move around a little in the wind and could do with being made of a thicker material, i have seen one or two ways of stopping it moving around but up to now it has not bothered me enough to attempt to sort it out.

I have also installed the Sena 10U bluetooth system and up to now it has performed far better than previous systems owned.

I have one, it's grown on me, literally, now fits like a glove.

Quiet, comfortable, million times better than the Shoei Neotec it replaced.

Slight niggles

I would prefer double d strap

The sun visor has a slight feathering going on at higher speeds

It doesn't fit in my GSA top case

Beautiful materials and finish but I just can't get my head into them.

Hi

I have been about to buy an XL E1, but had concerns re topbox. YMBF thanks for confirming it won't it in a top box.

The strange bit is - I asked the question on UKgser with o suitable reply, but on AdvRider some guys did reply and included photos confirming an XL E1 will fit in an LC GSA top box (although the lock on the US topbox looks different to that of a UK one, but dimensionally from the dimensions supplied its does seem to be the same size).

So i'm confused - guess I need to take a Alu GSA LC top box into a shop and try for myself.

link to advrider thread,

Would welcome any more feedback or better still pictures showing the helmet fitting or not fitting in the box.

TIA

Mine fits in my LC GSA topbox but mine is a medium.

Mine is an XL, but I haven't tried removing the sun visor. I'm away at present sans motorcycle so can't try it.

Pop down to Smartriders in Christchurch, now infinity and the guys there will I'm sure be only too willing to help. For me it's not a massive issue as we now put my wife's lid in and I use a HelmetLok.

I can confirm that it will definitely fit

I've just tried my own XL E1 in the aluminium top box on my 14my GSA and it went in no problem even inside the Schuberth supplied protective bag :clap

Anyone tried this lid yet and if so what are your thoughts?

Hi - bought my E1 in early June just before my annual week in Spain. Fit is great and very comfortable but make sure you try before you buy as Schuberth sizes can be a bit different. Found the sun visor/peak a bit vibey at speed on motorways so removed it - very easy. However the cover caps supplied to use when the peak is removed have been a problem. LH side has been secure and cap works well but the right hand side has been a pain - now on cover cap 4 - it seems to undo as the visor is raised and lowered and eventually spins off in the wind. Schuberth have asked to see the helmet to resolve the issue. Its purely cosmetic and doesn't affect the performance of the helmet but, having paid £550, I'm not happy to have to tolerate the problem Overall, great helmet spoiled by a minor niggle.

So you had to remove the only part that makes it significantly different from any other modular helmet? I'd hardly be giving out top marks for that...

On paper, it ticks all the boxes for what I want from a helmet - I'll be looking closely at it when my Arai XD and Schuberth C3 come up for replacement, in case it will do both jobs...

10% discount

I want one of these too, looks a lot better than it's direct competitors. Pretty expensive but if you use the code ADVM at www.JustHelmets.co.uk you can get a 10% discount.

£48 discount from £479.99 (matt black - more for fancy designs) down to £431.99 is a pretty nice discount and they price match.

When you get your helmet you will find that it is designed to be used with/without the peak & with/without the visor - any combination you like. When the peak is not required, you can fit the cover caps supplied - hence my post. :blast

Peak is great for slower speed stuff but not brilliant at high speed on windy motorways - takes 15 secs to remove so why tolerate it? As I pointed out, purely a cosmetic issue and not a significant criticism of the helmet.

Thanks for that, I use an Evo 6 at the moment so given the fact that this helmet which I believe is made by Schuberth shouldn't pose any problems fit wise!

Had my XLE1 for a couple of months now, here are my thoughts. Overall I'm very happy with it but I do have a couple of niggles... the peak isn't as sturdy as the TourX, whilst it stays in position it does shake a bit in the wind. Be nice if the edge of the peak was a little wider too. It's easy to adjust but I prefer the lowest position.

The XL E1 defo fits in the GSA LC top box but I would use the cover when you put it in to prevent scratching it.

The visor is prefitted with a pinlock and is a very good fit but I have noticed the fog getting under the pinlock a tiny bit near the right nostril (about the size of a 20p peice) when in cold weather (-2C) but again it's not a big problem and a vast improvement over no pinlock insert. The visor is a bit loose though compared to other helmets I've had (probably to account for the need for it to shut when you lift the front if it was open) but it stays in the various opened positions and the clarity is very good.

The ventilation onto the interior of the visor is excellent, I have to close it half way sometimes because it's too good, in the cold it's quite eye watering. Be nice if it had some rear exhaust vents but if you want these you'll need to get the Touratech version.

The fit is excellent and very comfortable, I feel like it fits a tiny bit low on my brow. The lining is plush and all the Cardo bluetooth gubbings is easy to fit. But as you have the interior tinted sun visor slider on the left you will want to get a stick on pad as you can't use the regular clamp. If you use the clamp you have to have the device really far back.

It's supposed to be the quietest modular available but I wear ear plugs so it's always quiet, but it's a fair bit quieter than my cheapo Nitro mod I had for years.

I love the ratchet strap, I've always preferred it over the double D ring. When I pull the modular front down and engage the latches on either side it can be a bit stiff, I have to open the visor and sort of squeeze it shut but this may ease with more use. Getting my thumb on the opening latch can be a bit tricky with winter gloves.

It works when you put it in to check final price, that's all I know. I got my XL E1 (used) in the For Sale forum at a great price and in mint condition.
