Hello Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to use the SRC with an external personal radio for bike to bike comms. I know the SRC has this function built in to use with other SRC's or scala systems. But the SRC comes with a cable that has a standard jack attached and I was wondering if this could be used with a walkie talkie/personal radio so that I can chat to my mates who use autocom systems with walkie talkies.

Hope this makes sense.

Hi Dean,

I just bought the SRC comm system.

Skimming through the printed manual I found out that the cable's purpose is for connecting to MP3 players or other audio SOURCES.

Furthermore, the MP3 player's or audio source's functions are controlled by the PLAYER device NOT the SRC's buttons.
Examining the jack end of the cable you'll see the ordinary jack (like simple earphones-speakers) with 3 metal sections (divided by 2 plastic rings).

There should be an extra section (like the jack on the PMR cable of Midland BT2) for transmitting YOUR voice towards the external device.

As a conclusion I'm afraid that you don't stand a chance to communicate with other bikers unless they use SRC or Cardo intercom systems (these are stated in the manual as the only compatible (pair-able).

This is much to my disappointment, because I spend the last couple of Hours trying to pair my Schuberth SRC with my old Midland BT2 in order to stay in touch with my pillion rider or my bikemates.

The funny thing is that the local Schuberth dealer ensured me that there is no problem in pairing SRC and BT2. (he is about to be choked with a very expensive acoustic collar on Monday :comfort:comfort:comfort)

I'll keep you posted!!!

Might this Bluetooth enabled PMR radio from Midland be the answer you're looking for?

Alternatively I'm not sure if something like an Autocom, with one thier Bluetooth dongles, connected to a PMR would work. Would be more costly but would enable you to choose the PMR you wanted to use. Doing that would open up the possibility of using the BO Ground Plain Independent antenna kit for far better range. If you think you might like to go that way then give Sam at Chainspeed a ring, he'll be able to advise on the Autocom side of things.
