In normal use the A and B buttons on the helmet give off a blue flash every ~2 seconds. The flash is rather strobe-like.

Not sure about Germany but I'm pretty sure a blue flashing light as I go down the M4 every night could get me into trouble.

This flashing seems to be the cause of the slightly audible ticking noise that can be heard through the audio. A good demonstration of how quiet the helmet is to be able to hear this.

I think your right about the ticking noise comming from the unit itself

What do you think of the radio reception quality? Its really poor on mine.

Same.

It only seems to find blank carriers and you have no clue as to where in the FM band it is tuned to. It did pick up a perfectly clear pirate station as I went past Slough one morning. That was, er, interesting.
