SCOOP! A German retailer put in the PDF catalogs the specification of the to-be-announced TomTom Rider 5 GPS for motorcycles. Biggest thing is the ability to select roads with the most curves.

Great idea ref the twisty roads, that will save me hours of planning on g maps for riding in Europe....:beerjug:

If I get a chance to leave our own stand I will have a look at the Utrecht show. We have some Dutch friends helping us so we should be able to find out more even if the info there is only in Dutch.

It's about time they released a new version. I'm guessing that I'll need a new charging mount and locking bracket for it though:blast

I'd say so since the unit is bigger (and thankfully a bigger screen). Looks interesting, apart from the price.

We all know that the lifetime maps is lifetime of the unit, once you change it, you'll need to buy maps again....

Now seen it on the Tom Tom site, £329.99 not too bad, charging dock with the unit.

Compatible with the Garmin 350LM..

Maybe for you. But MP3 playback is a minimum requirement for me.
I do agree with you, but the lack of media player (and Bluetooth) can all be worked around with music from your phone and a Bluetooth dongle plugged in to your Montana. But the lack of features in the Zumo can't be worked around.

LOL.

Yeah, I can just see me faffing on with that setup every day!

Ah, there I am on the 3-4 hour weekly(ish) commute.. ooh.. change tracks..ooh my fingers burn its -2. Arrgh, the phone's gone flat.

you get the idea.

:eek

Selecting the roads with most bends is just a gimmick, in my opinion, I'm more than capable of doing that myself with a decent map and Mapsource.

I'd be more interested in knowing what mapping/routing program they use.

And before anyone starts recommending 'Tyre', this requires an Internet connection, so for me is of very limited use.

I'm an advocate of planning my routes from a map and using mapsource to then send my planned route to my Zumo.

But....don't poo poo winding roads on the Tom Tom. I've got the app on my iphone and have used it on a few occasions to get from A to B, found some great roads I'd never have normally travelled along, usually avoiding the car infested trunk/main roads. No it's not as good as something you've planned but for when you can't be arsed it's not too bad
