Scooter electrics?

1984 Yamaha Chappy 80. I have put the (6 volt) lights and indicators back on, pretty sure all wiring plugged back into where they should be. Headlight dip and main work, horn works, tail light seems to have the brake light permanently lit and goes dimmer when brakes applied, and the indicators don't flash.
Anyone know of someone near me who can help?

nowhere near you - but fwiw;

sticky switch stuck on? - find it/them and WD40 - liberally applied or disconnect to eliminate, then replace. and the indicators don't flash.
if all bulbs light find the flasher unit, probably under side panel, give it a thump and see if lights blink. if so, likely to be a duff unit. cheap anyhow as a generic one will work.
Anyone know of someone near me who can help?

Could be a poor earth connection at the rear somewhere. It sounds like the rear light is earthing through the brake-lamp filament and when you pull the lever, it puts both filaments into series, making the light go dim.
