Due to a new job I'll be back commuting across London (Woodford - Hendon) and am thinking of getting a hack to save my SE from the salt demon. I know a few on here have big scooters and quite fancy a TMax; any views or alternative suggestions welcome

Darling.....you know that it really HAS to be a Honda C90...!!.....:bounce1.....:clap

"Ello guvnor, I'm the new boy...where can I park this? :D"

This had had some very good reviews in the press recently.

Check out the service intervals, some larger 4-stroke scoots require servicing every 2,000 miles. I sold an RT to someone moving up from a 500cc Piaggio, the RT was cheaper to service in the long term due to 6,000 mile intervals.

Forget the maxi scooters............proper commuting tool is a small 125cc 4-stroke, they cut through the traffic much easier. I've got a Honda Dylan which has turned out to be a decent robust bit of kit. 17k miles and rising. Much faster than the GS through town.

Service intervals every 2500 miles.

I confess to having a Burgman 400, comfortable and fast enough-must admit though I do fancy a Tmax!
Tmax's do seem to hold their value well.

Bomber

T Max are brilliant but bloody expensive when compared to similar age regular bike.

Looking at £6k for a new one, and second hand seem to all be around £2.5-£3k for age range from 01-04. Not many get advertised.

Dealers seem to be able to sell everyone they get.

The 08 model had change of lights (style) and display (style).

If I wasn't so tight I would get one :D

+1 from me

If you are going to buy a scooter I would without hesitation recommend a FES125 Honda Pantheon. I had one for 4 years without problems (the older 2 stroke ones are more gutsy). I have four other bikes from a 600 KTM up to a 1200 GS and the scooter wins hands down for whizzing in and out of the traffic - wish I hadn't sold it now.

I would also recommend that you get a French tablier (made by baglux in France or Tucano Urbano in Italy) which is an apron that fits over the bike and can be used to keep your legs warm and dry whilst you are riding without the need for waterproof trousers (but make sure that you have a good waterproof/goretex armoured jacket.

Being a very recent Burgman purchaser and 1st ever scooter, i can say i am well liking it, takes some of the stress out of city commuting and don't have to fill up every two days either

My Tmax needs an oil change every 3k miles i think as all it says in
the manual is change it when the oil indicator comes on :nenau
oil filter every 12000 miles,
valves checked @ 24000 miles
V belt changed 12000 miles

Great scoot top speed 110 mph cruise @ 80-90 mph
compfy seat but the screen is noisy handling and stability are amazing,
brakes are from an R1

Only downside is that there bloody expensive unless like me
you get lucky :green gri

I have a 180sp gilera two stroke. It does 60mpg,90mph and a service means cleaning the air filter and changing the spark plug.
Tax is cheap and as an add on to my GS insurance costs me 40 quid a year.
I've had it 6 years and it has always lived outside when not in use and only has minor surface corrosion here and there. Not bad considering I only wash it once a year!
My GS would be a bag of rust by now!

I brought a piaggio beverly 125 for £350, does 80mph, 90 mpg, is thin enough to get through traffic but big enough to not make me look an idiot. Uses standard piaggio parts for easy maintenance and can be fitted with full panniers and top box really easily. Handles really well too with its proper sized wheels.

slipstreaming on the m1 i managed to get 85 out of it!!!! but that was bouncing off the limiter haha.

I imagine i looked quite amusing in full race leathers on the thing haha *it was only to get them over to my flat... honest!!!!

Mind you i am obligated to wear a dark visor ALL the time on it.

Dont want anyone to recognise me! :eek

....nice one :D

Managed about 69.999mph on the Dylan, slipstreaming a truck, two-up, downhill on the M23, tucked in behind my barn door screen. It was funny at the time :)

hahah.. aahhh found memories :)

Best one i had was when i was young... err... i had just passed my cbt, brought a peugeot speedfight 50... still restricted .. and decided to ride to devon on it.... all 300 miles of it...

16 hours later i arrived.... and broke down... bugger:aidan

I keep thinking of redoing that trip... any takers? :bounce1

Didn't fancy ...
