Hey!

Does anybody know or has anyone tried to fit a Scorpion end can to an 09 model GSA? Their website states 2004-2006 models only. Is there a difference between these year designations and an 09 model? :(

If one of the knowledge Guru's could help, that would be great!

Cheers :thumb2

If it helps, I've had the same Titanium Remus Revolution end can on all three of my GSes, an '04, an '07 and an '09.

Should be the same fitment:thumb

I have a Scorpion slimline end can on my 1200Adv, and have a feeling that there is a bit of a loss in low-down power/torque.

On a trip down the Route de Grand Alpes - a pal on a similar bike (standard can) was in 3rd going up hairpins, where I was in 2nd to pull cleanly out of the bend. Cornering speeds were the same.

At higher revs - it could well be breathing better, and of course - the can is smaller and lighter.

Just something to consider.

The end can won't affect the engine "breathing" as the engine opens up after the CAT is removed. A non standard end can will only give you a louder noise.

Having said that, my opinion is that the 1200 needs some back pressure so if you had the baffles out, you may of lost a bit of oomph!

Err - that looks a bit of a contradicton :nenau .............. what effect can the baffles have - if you maintain that the end can as a whole - makes no difference???:rolleyes::rolleyes:

A non-standard can may have an influence on the gas flow from the engine - no matter what the cat is responsible for.

Yeah, I didn't put it very well to be honest. I've tried every combination on my 1200 and the best is Keihan headers (others are available:augie) and standard can.

It was OK with a Scorpion end can with baffles but felt a bit breathless without. We made a Keihan end can and had the same result i.e good with baffle, a bit breathless without. Without the baffles it's also way to noisy.

With standard headers on i.e with the cat still on an aftermarket end can gives more noise but I haven't noticed any difference in power with baffles in. With baffles out, plenty noisy but I thought there was a definate loss of bottom end power.

Basically, you will only get a decent increase in power by removing the CAT and either keeping the standard can or having a baffled aftermarket can so you have some back pressure. You may get a little more by standard headers and a different end can but it wouldn't be much.

Don't ask me how it all works but those are my findings!

I found when I changed to the BMW Akrapovic can, the bike seemed to run smoother, without being too loud, and the burble and poping on the overrun is easier to do too :augie

The big advantage of an aftermarket can, as far as I can see, is the loss of weight.
