This route is very, very fluid at the moment. No real plan other than wanting to see the very best that scotland has to offer. I'd like to visit sky and some of the great expanse of beaches I've heard so much about.
Any advice on the 'must sees' and 'best roads'?
Also, I'm looking to camp but will use B&Bs if needed so any advice on best campsites/B&B would be very much appreciated. Probably looking at 3/4/5 days, maybe next week if weather shows signs of summer still around!

Many thanks in anticipation!:thumb2

Take a wee detour on your way to Durness and walk into Sandwood Bay- must be one of the nicest beaches in the UK. and being 4 1/2 miles from the road end should keep it that way.
I'll buy you several pints if you get the GS down there and back....:augie

Your going to do some serious motoring - doing a very similar route in Sept but taking in Orkney and Shetland.

I've figured on 4 days to get to the GOG area after including Skye, giving a little time to take in the view.

Plotted it on the garmin and 3 days looked a rush.

Pretty good route, are you planning on going up the west side and down the east or vica versa.

I would swing more inland towards the Perth area, great roads around Comrie, Killin and Aberfeldy.

Problem is theres so many great roads and scenery, you do know you'll need to come back again......and again.

What are your planned dates ?

I think everyones got their favorite roads and your route from Skye to Ullapool has some great scenery and roads. For what its worth my preference would be following the coast from Kyle of Lochalsh through: Plockton-(optional), or direct to Lochcarron, then on to Loch Kishorn and over the Pass to Applecross. Then follow the coast road to Sheildaig, through the mountains from Torridon to Kinlochewe, north west on the A832 around the coast through Gairloch and then on to Ullapool. The single track roads (dead ends) up the side of Loch Ewe and Loch Gairloch are often overlooked but very rewarding. At the end of the day it all depends on how much time you've got (add on another half day minimum for the above) and in all honesty whatever route you take you won't be disapointed!
Have fun.
