I was gobsmacked at the lean angle needed to deck these things out dudes it is incredible ,after following sportsbikes and grinding the centre stand several times ,i was laughing my bo*locks off.If i remove this is it possible to grind pegs too or am i aiming too far?Was also surprised at the tourance tyres and thier grip too, with front preload and other settings std and rear pre load set to std as well .All this over the snake pass (peak district).Any one shed any light on these subjects......

Hey Richyboy

I've got a R1150GS SE, it's an Australian model basically a standard 1150 with the bigger Adventurer tank.

Did the Keith Code Australian Superbike School last Summer and managed to scrape the right had foot rest on one nice long right hander, the instructor was convinced it was the head from where he was but only signs were on the foot rest. Only problem that day was it was up around 36C so the tyres were sliding around a bit, but really predictable no signs of any big slides just gentle movement across the track.

I only did the level one course but it was a lot of fun, I think I upset a couple of guys on Busa and one particular irate Ducati 999 rider, he couldn't accept that it was standard. I'm wouldn't call myself a real quick rider but the GS does inspire confidence. This is my second one; I'm originally from the UK and fairly did the run up around Matlock on my R1100GS. Since have moved to Australia and got an R1150, my first bike here was a GSXR1000, but still find the GS a much better all rounder and on real roads can hold on to a sportsbike pretty well.

Enjoy it and give my regards to the Dales.

I have seen a certain Rabbitman grind the pegs on an 1100GS with worn shocks.

With my 1150GSa, the only thing that has ever touched down is the centre stand.
I haven't seen it done either, and I don't think I ever will. The suspension is higher than the standard 11xxGS so I think that if your pegs are touching the ground, everything else is too :D

Anyway, it is not my purpose in life to scrape the pegs

Have fun!

Michel

I have a 1200Gs and recently fitted Fastaway pegs and have them on the lower setting. Was out for a run last week fully loaded and 2-up and managed to scape the pegs on one long right hander!!! Got a fright the first time it happened!! Even fully laden this bike is so stable and a real blast in the bends, love it!!
