Lads, need a bit of help for a mate with an '05 Dakar who requires a taller screen. What's good/bad/indifferent?

TIA

Pre -Twin Spark Dakars had a great screen (mine has)..........don't know why they changed it???????????

That's interesting as the one thing that will make me sell my 02 Dakar is the wind noise from the screen!
I've tried it at all angles and with various spacers but to no avail.I was starting to blame my helmet but if I move my head into clear air or stand on the pegs all is quiet. The noise starts at around 25mph depending on conditions and gets worse as speed increases.I have tried (unsucessfully) to work out the air flow with bits of wool etc. Also moving my hand around above the screen doesn't help either.I spent a lot of motorway miles on the pegs coming back from Sweden earlier this year which is pretty tiring after a while!
BTW, how tall are you?

Cheers,Tony

About 6'1 with a 31" inseam.........seeing as you're asking and Dakar screen suits me fine

I seem to recall a couple of people advocating the use of bar risers. I know this doesn't affect the screen height but it could be turbulence that is also caused by the handguards/mirrors in conjunction with the screen. It didn't make much difference for me.
I changed my Dakar screen for a standard GS screen to see if it was any better. I changed it back as soon as my ears stopped ringing and my vision cleared. The Dakar screen didn't seem quite so bad after that.

Replaced my 04 Dakar screen with Wunderlich one, about 20" tall overall, better protection, slighty noiser but worth it if doing a few motorway miles..

just fitted the tall wunderlich one, to my girlfriends 04 dakar (twin spark)

the screen has the 4 fixing bolts as opposed to the 3 fiximg bolts on pre twin spark models.

screen is plenty big enough, but, according to SPC dealership, i have been the second person to mention that the fit isnt that great, and subsequently the screen sits crooked and one of the fixing holes has cracked due to the twisting forces required to get the thing to line up with the screw holes...they have said they will replace it as soon as they get one in...just thought i'd let you know in case you got one and it didnt quite line up...

if the new one does line up, then it will be staying...

Cheers peeps, will pass it all on.

Hi, sk8mutie, been home to take that thing down the Country Park yet? Fancy a shot of mine on top of the Rock :D
