so I dropped the screen right down while riding on the lanes in the Lakes today, then back on the duel carriageway tried raising it back up and the adjuster knob sheared off in my hand:augie
anyone else had this, rung up the dealers and its the first one they'd had...

That's interesting, yours is a new bike isn't it? I took mine back after a just a couple of hundred miles because my adjuster was far tighter than I'd experienced on any GS and I was concerned that it wasn't right. They did something to free it up a bit, though it's still stiffer than usual. Just wondering whether somebody on a production line was a newbie.

When I adjust mine, to go up I help rise the screen with other hand. To go down it's not needed. I have Puig touring screen and extra supporting brackets.

The screen is not to designed to be adjusted up whilst on the fly (according to dealer) after I queried this .The standard adjuster will break just has yours has done.

That is why when people started mentioning electric adjustment I wondered if and how long the cheaper Chinese ones might last

They have always said this, and indeed if you try to adjust whilst doing motorway speeds then you might have an issue. It shouldn't break if just adjusting on the lanes. I do wonder if there's a dodgy set going around - mine doesn't feel as it should.

I have an electric screen ready to fit to my gsa my cousin has already fitted his and has no issues at normal road or motorway speed adjusting his screen with the motor so all I can think is they have got better over time and now work very well

thanks for your replies.. Seems like there isn't a mass issue and maybe I shouldn't have tried adjusting on the move.
So ive ordered an electric kit, that takes the screen a little higher and can be adjusted at speed. Hopefully now sorted.

Never had a issue adjusting mine on the move.
Probably break next time i do.

I'll post some photos when ive fitted it. ive got the sos button, so ill be fabricating a nice looking switch for it.

You can make it a lot easier to turn by droppin a little oil on the silver rod behind the mechanism both sides.
Look like a tiny hyd ram and a white wear ring.
