Was fitting a TT screen support hard part to my '05 GS the other day when I noticed that 4 screws (2 on either side) seemed to be missing. The are the ones that mount the original support that holds the screen to the bike. Sorry don't know the correct name of the part but its the silver bit that loops round the top of the instruments.

Anyway...went to BMW and asked them to order 4 for me. After a bit of humming and hawing and checking with the mechanic, 2 different types have been ordered as they are not sure which ones fit.

Interestingly, when the mechanic checked another bike that was in he noticed that it also had two of them missing!

They suspect that they just rattle loose and fall out. Worth a quick check of yours...

They recommend these are replaced every time they are removed. The new ones come with some blue 'threadlock' type stuff on them, I don't see why you can't just use the old ones with more threadlock :nenau

I was removing mine to fit an additional bar to mount the Sat Nav on. When I removed one of the screws it had been cross threaded and had damaged the thread

I have the part number for the screws somewhere for the 2008 GS, not sure if they are the same for the earlier models though :nenau

What's the 2008 part number? I've got the order form for the ones they've ordered for me, I'll see if it's the same.

If there's uncertainty about which ones you need, can't you measure the ones you've still got and just order replacement ones from STAGONSET?

Sadly all 4 are missing. Don't know why the dealer didn't measure the ones on the bike they had...I didn't think about that until after I'd left.

Sorry Craig but it looks like I told you porkies. When I bought the screws they were in a bag with a BMW part number, I've just been out to the garage to check and they are in a bag for a different item, banjos
I now remember that the screws were indeed loose and the service guy put them into a spare bag.

However, looking at one of the online microfiche sites I think it may be part number 46637686286 (item 16 on the fiche).

Thanks Bob, I'll check what they've ordered. I suspect I'll just have to wait and see if what arrives fits!
