After a few thousand miles I was still sruggling to get on with either the standard or higher screens that the bike came with. Every combo tried but not only the noise and buffetting but also the big expanse of perspex was annoying me - I prefere more basic naked bikes.

With the help of a saw and a sander the problem was solved, the noise and buffeting now replaced by a good old fashioned force 10 gale in my face. Maybe not for anybody else but I love it.

So, does a cut down screen look naff or ok???

Looks quite cool actually - like a GS Speedster :D

Cut down screen looks quite good actually, that's a severe cut down though, did you try tobinators?

Tried out the tobinators on my Adv for the first time yesterday,I think the key to the buffeting issue is to allow more air to enter the gap between the screen and headlamp cowl, ;)
My first attempt at positioning the screen shows a big improvement, for the record I lifted the screen above the headlamps and laid the top back(made it less vertical)it works for me:D
Trouble is with the almost infinate range of adjustments,I'm not sure I want to mess with it any further,in case I lose the good position I found by chance.

I'm with you Gavin,I have riden my GS for thousands of miles without a screen, but mainly sunday rides and prefer to have a constant stream of air rather than buffeting,I found it ok up to about 80mph,But longer trips if I know I am going to use motorways I prefer to fit my home made screen. :thumb nice one very supamotard.Andy
