Screens (Again)

I've noticed that because the MRA-Vario screen is tinted, it goes well with blue and mandarin colours, but looks a bit odd on the Titan Silver and a bit too dark on the night-black.

Pity they didn't do a clear version.

T'Tech Spoiler vs Vario Screen

I am wondering how good the spoiler from touratech is? I am
contemplating either putting one of these on top of my Givi long
screen or buying an MRA vario screen when they become available
for 1100 does anyone have any experience of either.

Thanks

Stephen

MRA???????

I BOUGHT A WUNDERLICH LABELLED SCREEN TODAY, IS THIS THE MRA SCREEN YOU ARE ALL TALKING ABOUT?

IT COST ME £110 BY THE WAY. I AM YET TO TAKE IT ON A MOTOR WAY FOR A REAL TEST, SO I CANT REALLY COMMENT ON HOW GOOD IT IS, BUT IT LOOKS THE PART. I AM 6'6" AND FROM THE RIDING POSITION IT CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE ITS GONNA DO THE JOB.

POSSIBLE BENEFIT OVER THE ADVENTURER SCREEN IS THAT THE WUNDERLICH ONE RETAINS THE ORIGINAL GS FIXINGS SO IT CAN BE ADJUSTED. THE ADVENTURER SCREEN IS FIXED IN THE ONE POSITION.

I THINK THE BEST BET IS TO BE SMALL OF STATURE THEN YOU WONT HAVE THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!

BIG (UNFORTUNATE) GORDY

I'm confused.

Having read the rave reviews of the MRA Vario screen for the GS I decided to order one. I had a similar screen on my Pan & was very pleased with it. I'm satisfied with the std screen on my Adventure, but would like the option of adjustment. I've bought the std model GS spacers to allow a std GS screen to fit an Adventure (£3:88 for all 4 pieces from BMW, believe it or not!). All was set....

I then phoned SPC. After 3 reminders to ring back, with no apology (has anyone else had this problem with them?) I placed my order. The Accessories guy said 'We don't have one in stock but I'm happy to order one for you, but I should point out that most people don't like them'. Puzzled, I asked further. 'We've only sold 5, and 2 of those have been returned because they vibrate at any speed above about 50'.
He then entered a sales pitch for the new Wunderlich 1 piece screen.

This seems completely at odds with what I've read in the numerous threads which have dealt with this subject. Can anyone out there who has experience of the Vario Screen help resolve this? Certainly the Pan screen I had was substantially built & didn't vibrate; I frankly find it hard to believe they've only ever sold 5 of these screens......

The new MRA one piece is better quality and frankly looks better than the MRA Vario (IMHO anyway). I have one on my bike...had it for a week or so now. It's not as good as I expected, and I still don't like it over 70mph. Good chest and shoulder protection, and better around the head thn stock....but not good enough for me (6@ 32" inside leg, seat on low).

I went to the East Midlands meet on Tuesday night, and swapped with an MRA from Steve Currel's bike. Much better around the head, worse around the shoulders (because it's not so wide.

Despair! What we really need is for CeeBaileys to make an adjustable MRA Vario screen, which is wider, like the Adventure screen....only out of better quality materials. The MRA Vario is good, but not great quality (material's too thin and a little bit on the flimsy side).

Finally, the Adventure screen itself, is not adjustable.

Hope that clarifies/helps,

Regs,

Richard

Aeroflow + ear plugs

I have the Aeroflow for my R1100GS. Makes the bike even uglier. I have only used in winter. It is fantastic.

Taken off in summer coz I like the wind.

Now some say BMW club is not worth being part of. I say hell I got the screen for 100 quid through an advert. Now that has to be better than 300 odd quid.

If you are worried about wind on the helmet being off puting then the best gadget I got recently was a set of custom made ear plug from http://www.greenleopard.co.uk best 40 quid I have sent in ages.

Re: the earplugs, which product did you go for and how did you get fitted up for them (I presume you had to go for a fitting before they were made) ?

One point - earplugs are essential and very helpful but they don't stop the buff-buff-buffeting !

no probs with my MRA Vario screen - best accessory screen I've had - plenty of adjustment and no turbulence @ 6'2".
Just completed a 2 week 3200 mile trip to Hungary/Serbia and on Sat did a 'Peage' 100mph+ 3 hour blast from Reims to Brugge and it was excellent.

Alex B ear plugs

Greenleopard are based in Kettering. However they do attend loads of events so worth asking when they are going to be in your neck of the woods. Just call them.

They will make them up by injecting the silicone stuff into your ears. I hung around for them to be finished. On bike show events etc they simply post the finished article on to you.

Alternatively you can get an ear specialist to make a cast. They can then make the plugs from that.

Absolutely great. Just be careful to not over rev the engine. Easily done as you can no longer hear the engine to the same extent.
