Has anyone fitted an aftermarket screen to the 12GS?
Our cousins over the Pond seem to have a make called Cee Baileys which can be any size you want. Has anyone over there (or over here) fitted one and if so what are they like? Is there an improvement on the windblast/ buffeting as standard or with Tobinators fitted?
The Givi one looks OK but does not use the OE screen mounts, so you can't use Tobinators with that. Can't get a deent enough pic of the Wunderlich one, which doesn't seem to be available anyway.
Be very interested in any thoughts/ experiences.

Cee Bailey screen

A friend of mine has this screen and for him it is a major improvement. He has fitted them without the tobinators.

I believe the ones from Wunderlich are still not available (although they are on their website since april:mad: )

I believe if you go to tobinators site you will see info from David S who has the c/b and tobinators installed.

Cheers

Tobinators seemed to have sorted my buffeting out but it`s still very noisey :(

BTW it`s my birthday today so I can use this smiley :hpbirthda :D

Sorry

The frogs make one that is supposed to be very good. Sells for 115 €

Hi Pete, i'm down in West Wales, i've just ordered the secdem screen from france, it cost me 135 euros including postage, give it a few days to arrive and for me to fit and i'll give you a progress report and you can maybe pop down and have a look for yourself if you'd like to.

I'm in Pembs, 30 minutes from Carmarthen.

WM, sounds great - interestingly I decided to go for the dustbin look and have orderd a Cee Baileys. More dosh but uses the original mounts (so I can still use tobinators) and bigger so I can cut bits off if I feel like it.
It will be interesting to compare.

It seems that the SECDEM :
- uses the original mounts
- would work with a Tobinator.

I am going to check this one too...

Hi there,

does your small screen get rid of the buffeting, or is it just purely for cosmetic reasons.
Also, do you suffer from extreme 'bad weather' blast when riding along exposed roads, like motorways ?

Am curious, as i want to change the screen on my 1200gs, but i dont really want a patio door as a solution.

Ian.

A bigger screen is not the only option...

A friend had an old worn 12GS screen that I attacked
with my chainsaw....

That's quite a lot more than I've cut off my "low screen",... It's currently in test-stage 1 where I want to see if it works. And so far I'm quite happy with it. It has reduced the buffeting and combined with the Tobinators I can get it so low that it's waaaay too low.
I think that I'm going to attack it with my Dremel-mini-drill at some point this week. If I'm happy with the shape, I'll polish the edges up a bit and then I'll post the pics.

Normally I avoid motorways. Driving quick on smaller roads is my thing. I seldom drive faster than 130 km/h. Therefore I took away the screen and drove without it for 10000 km or so. The noise in the helmet and the buffeting disappeared completelty!

The small screen I put on mainly to protect the instruments from rain & dirt.

A friend of mine just got one for his bike...he's happier with it than the stock screen

Looks quite nice in the flesh...nicer curves than the original screen.

Don't send credit card details over email! Instead have them ring you or something, but not via email!
